1Plus Question

I really like what Badger had done with his golf site (www.golf.sc) by putting
in the links on the left hand side that relate directly to the topic of the site.
This is exactly what I want to do with several of my sites that are parked
at 1Plus.

In a recent post he gave the following instructions on how to do this:
"Simple. Once logged on, go to 'my news links' and create your set of links.
Then, go to 'edit' the domain you wish to show these new links on and enable
the news set you have just created."

The interface that I have with 1Plus does not seem to jive with his
instructions. Or, perhaps, I simply am not getting it.

Does anyone have a more detailed set of instruction because I cannot seem
to make it work with the above set of instructions?

1. "Page not found" for banner. I KNOW how to do an adsense ad and can't figger out what's wrong here.

This is because in "my news links" the [keyword/s] is the phrase that generates your news. Not a set of meta keywords. Your long list obviously doesnt have a chance to generate the news. you will have to redo this im afraid.

2. Check out the custome links. Some say 403 or 404 (don't remember) in search box and in the page title but page is formatted correctly and the adsense is beautifully targeted. Also the block of links toward the right all say 403 or 404. I don't know what kind of error I made.

Hmm, slight config problem by using the [ ' ] in women's news. Ive changed this and it looks fine. This is caused by the feed we receive for your "relative search" links. I'll flag this with our programmer see if anything can be resolved.

3. The other links list my entire list of keyords in the title and search box and therefore the page goes on forever to the right. Much scrolling has to take place b4 you find the adsense. YIKES

4. Of course, I could go back and rip out the keywords I worked so hard on. I don't want to do that! I worked hard to get good adsense ads! Is there any way to get the keywords to be invisible (as they should be?)

see above. Unfortunately youve slightly misread the "keywords" bit. like I say your keywords are there to generate the news feed so they should be single or two word [keywords"]. Sorry this is unclear.

5. I want to set up some plain ole parking pages. How do I get to use one of the new templates or at least the one w/the cellphone header (I have a cellphone expired domain). I do NOT want the one that's served! It has 3 unattractive icons on the left, a huge gaping hole for most of the page and a few pertinent links on the far right.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood. Since parked is an option on our setup page, I thought that option was avaiable. So even that default page won't be seen?

Well, I must be a real dope, because I really don't know what that means. Are you saying that each link is limited to just one kw? And it has to be the same as the news link title?

And will the adsense ads have to rely on the kws entered in the edit portion of your site? If so, are there limitations on those as well? How will google know which news link goes w/which kw set?

And where is all this written, please. There may be other things I've overlooked and I need to economize on all the do-overs.

Because I STILL can't paste my adsense code into the edit area. The paste function simply doesn't work! I've tried starting on a new domain and I can't get my adsense done. Please help!

Well Badger, I thought I knew what this meant but I guess I don't:

Just inserting your basic adsense code on the "my default options" page ensures that any ad space on your sites will show your google ads. Albeit in the default layout and colours. This is a simple and quick way to get up and running. Because your custom adsense code had some issues, i deleted them, thus reverting back to your default code which we know works.

Like Ive said to you before in PM and in another thread, the reason you cannot see your pages sometimes (or now that you cannot do certain functions on the site) is, im sure, a localised problem you have. Do you have your PC fully protected?

It doesnt anymore. Your banners show fine for me on all pages. I checked your adsense code and there definately was a problem with it. If you want to place custom adsense banners, you must copy and paste the code exactly as you get it from adsense.

You can but these are monetised through Revenue Pilot. Not the greatest layout etc and weve not really pushed this area of the site recently, this is because we have plans to run our own parking program soon - using various layouts and themes designed by our users.. In the meantime if you want straight parking, apply to revenue pilot and we'll serve the pages. IMHO youre better off with news / blog at the moment with custom links and then switch once youve built up a nice bunch of indexed pages.

Yes. Like i said twice in my last post (just to emphasise the point ) your custom news links are not meta keywords, they are the keywords that generate your news. No they are not limited to one keyword hence my example of "milan fashion". Field 1 is your displayed name. Field 2 are the keywords that generate your news.

And anyway, massive bunches of meta keywords count for little nowadays in SEO.

Adsense will draw the ads from your custom manipulation of adsense for your index page. For your sub pages, it will draw your ads from your news keywords.

Thank you for trying to help me, I know you're busy. but what
happened has cost me some sleep and I'm now having to give up for the night.

First, you turned all my adsense into text ads and made the skyscraper a sickly green...not good at all! Then both my banner ads were made to be text ads, why?

All I needed help with was the top banner ad. If there was a problem w/the code, I would appreciated knowing what the issue is so I'd know what to avoid in the future.

FYI, I always copy the code exactly.

Problem being, I've never done image ads before so just followed along, putting in text colors, borders, etc, knowing they weren't needed but I didn't see any other way to do it. (Yes, I selected image ads only). The mystery is why one turned out nicely and the other "could not be found." I did them at the same time

When I redid my ads only the skyscraper went back to what it should be.
The top banner is "page cannot be found" so I really would appreciate knowing what I'm doing wrong there.

My pretty 250x250, (which I loved) that you switched to text ads, has been replaced by html code-something about java script.

Further, when I changed my links over to short kw's (or maybe it's the 250 ad mistake I must have made), the whole page slid sideways and I have a huge blank space...everything's moved to the right.

I'm still having a slash added whenever I use an astrophe. It only happens in the title. I see ? happening in the news copy, as well.

I haven't PM you for about a week and still waiting for a reply. What I wanted to know, among other things, is how to alter the color of the header. The demo was a sky blue so I know ther are other colors available.

At any rate, this wasn't me, I've always been able to see my pages...

Yes, It is your code that is/was the problem.

Ive fixed this now so that it shows image ads for you in your 250x250 and 468x80 banner spaces.

Feelin' much better now w/some shuteye. Thanks for fixing the banner ads; it's appeared to have fixed all the problems in one fell swoop! I'm still having the apostrophe/backslash problem so I went in and changed some titles but there's one that just can't be switched around.

Could you please PM me the code for one of the banners? I have many more mini-sites to do and w/o the correct code, I'll be pestering you again (Horrors ).

Would you also tell me how to change the header color?

NP, glad to help.

You'll find the correct banner code if you log on and check the code ive added.

I also think now youve customised the links, you'll do very well. Thats if you give your domain a reasonable amount of time at 1plus in order for the search engines to find you and index all your pages.

Currently the header colour on the theme youve chosen for this domain cannot be changed. We'll probably add this feature soon.
