Is Imodo Coming? Listed for sale at 1Plus?

I went to 1plus to see if there was any information regarding Imodo as I was following the thread here that said it was coming in Aug. The subject seems to have been dropped with no further news. When I typed in Imodo at 1plus, using their search box it came up in the domains for sale with a "make offer" listing.

Does anyone have any info? I've been waiting as I am sure others have to check it out.

Peace-
Vik

Dont worry folks, were alive and well and just finishing off our bits and bobs...

As ever, you give a date which you think is more than realistic and, as ever things get in your way which prevent you from doing it in time. I guess that is the nature of the internet.

Anyway, just jumping through the last few hoops and we should be good to go.

All the best.. :)

I am admittedly a "brand spankin' new" (registered)member to this forum, but have been a lurker for what seems like an eternity!

I, too, have been very eagerly anticipating the much-touted release and arrival of "IMODO". But, I notice a consistent pattern of omission in replies and responses offered up by the architects of Imodo -- specifically, why do Imodo representatives seemingly "dodge and evade" every last inquiry forum members make regarding the availability and offer-for-sale of the Imodo domain?

It is, afterall, absolutely CENTRAL to your business mission and brand identity; and yet, repeated inquiries by forum members regarding this very subject matter -- articulated over a period spanning several months -- have been ignored and disregarded (most recently, in this very thread! ...the "Imodo guy" tactfully addresses every conceivable issue relative to delays and the much-anticiapted rollout -- EXCEPT FOR that "small little detail" pertaining to the prospective sale of its identity!!)

What gives!! What's up with that!?! I can't imagine a faster or more effective means of undermining consumer confidence than to repeatedly ignore eminently reasonable, on-point inquiries that relate to the very "essence of your corporate identity and being!!"

Respectfully, perhaps a little less hype and apology -- in favor of a straight answer to a series of very simple questions regarding the advertised offer for sale of your domain name -- are in order.

For my part, I am (and have been) very, very excited about the rollout of your service, but I gotta' tell you, you're posts are making me very nervous (sufficiently so, that I felt compelled to finally join this forum -- rather than merely lurk -- so I could actually bring this to your attention.

Naturally, please feel free to further explain and elaborate however you see fit. Thanks.

Hey VirtualReIT, welcome to NP, have seen you online a LOT! :)
(I assume you use the same nick elsewhere...)

How does it make a difference? If they launch as stated the business/brand is still up for sale I guess...aren't most of yours? The price might be 'slightly' higher though...

I'm sure with 1plus they have already proved their credibility, I guess they're trying to make sure iModo is 'perfect' as far as possible, it is a highly competitive market and one wrong move could wipe out a new business. Everyone has a different approach I guess. Us open source guys have a tendency to go live in beta, not so most businesses.

Sorry, the only reason why iMODO is listed as for sale is because in our seemingly unending search for a domain for our platform, we ended up selecting one which we already owned, which was previously in our system and for sale.. Ironic really.

thats all :)

Sorry, didnt realise we'd been hyping up the release. There has been a dozen or so NP members testing out our platform and they have been kind enough to recommend certain tweaks and changes. All this has taken longer than expected. Apologies nonetheless

Respectfully, I have the sense that you've sorta' answered your own question...

If you polled ten rational consumers (for that matter, even 10 domain-savvy ones!), I venture to guess that fully 9.9 of them of would affirm that it makes a whole world of difference!

And you're right in this respect; most of mine (and perhaps everyone else's) names might be for sale, but I'm also NOT midstream into the launch of a well-advertised international domain parking service using one of those very ("for sale") names.

Lastly, I'm sure you're absolutely right with respect to Imodo ambitiously working to make things as "perfect as possible" (...good for them, and for me!), and to take every precaution to ensure they don't make "one wrong move in a highly competitive market that could wipe-out a new business model."

Duly noted! And that's precisely why the 'small matter' of their very identity appearing to be floating for sale somewhere out there in cyberspace (sans a reasonable explanation for it) is so glaring to me.

Please bear in mind that I have seen the question posed (however informally) -- without an answer -- more than once over the last few months. Since I'm keenly interested in the service, these sorts of things might be reasonably expected to stand out quite discernably to me.

Well, it appears I've got my eminently reasonable answer, and it's a perfectly satisfactory one for me ...thanks, Badger!! I appreciate the clarity.

I actually have a career history in NYC finance, and a lot of requisite "web 1.0 dot.com bubble" car tissue to prove it! :)

If I had a dime for every 1998 startup that built-up a customer base on "thin air" -- only to then pawn it off on deeper pockets -- untried and untested! -- I'd be penning this reply a castle in Monte Carlo!! :)

My point is, I'm no doubt vastly more sensitive to appearances and imagery (like "Pavlov's Dogs," I salivate whenever I see something -- or, think I see something! --atypical on a pre-rollout), and that's what kept "hanging me up," so to speak.

I'm delighted by your reply, and by Imodo's larger prospects -- I'm on-board... sign me up! (as soon as reasonably practical, of course!

Best Regards!!

"web 1.0 dot.com bubble"

There will be a bigger one for Web 2.0 :p
remember you heard it here first.

Although a LOT of investors have become wiser with their investments, a lot of it is still made with a 'slap on the back, old school network' type of mentality. No one asks/answers the tough questions - is it profit making? does it have any assets, aside from a non paying userbase and a 'brandable' domain? does it make sense or even logic?

A lot of developers are understanding they can go it alone and really make a difference, both in value and bottomline. Cases to point being 37signals.com/basecamp network, bodis, etc. So whether there will even be space in Web 3.0 for non developers is open to question.

...I just joined this damn thing this morning, and I can't get off it! ...somebody stop me! :)

An excellent post, and I take your points to heart. I do, however, have a slightly different take on the "over-sold hype factor" deeply rooted in the demise and implotion of web 1.0.

You're right, that, '...slap on the back, good ol' boy network' BS still does exist (in every industry, to be sure ...in fact, it's even more pronounced abroad), but it's a much, much smaller "club" this time around, particularly in the context of dot.com bubbles.

And the really good news is, we all recognize it now -- often from miles away -- and steer well clear ...your mere mention of it -- with appropriate disgust -- is most reassuring to me.

I think web 2.0 really is about substance ...just look at all the real, tangible, touchable value-added utility out there ...it's a great time to be alive.

I think Amazon was given something like 8 YEARS! to turn a profit and return a little respect to its investors -- this time 'round, they'd be lucky to get 8 months...

Right, thanks Virtual..

You and me both. I saw with interest and from the peripherals the web1.0 companies grow and go. Some selling for silly money based solely on a bunch of email accounts sometimes.

And like any new concept, the web learns at each juncture and doesnt repeat all of the mistakes from the time before. Right now it seems you can raise a whole bunch of VC money solely on a made up, 5 letter name and a fisher price, large push button platfrom. iMODO notwithstanding.

We are a purely private venture, we have several owners and weve been at this iMODO project for over a year. 1plus gave us proof of concept and iMODO takes it a little further.

Pretty pointless us keeping the platform under wraps any further I guess, being that I made a presentation about it last friday in London to a room of domainers which also had in it all the senior guys from Sedo, Namedrive, TrafficZ, Fabulous yadda yadda.. :)

As far as the iMODO name being for sale maybe at 1plus and Sedo, dont worry i'll take it down, small thing really and like i explained its purely down to the fact that we took the name from our own stock rather than through acquisition.

And talking of 2.0, we actually own the domain web2.0parking.com, maybe we shouldve used that. Obviously, the name also gives us full rights to 3.0parking and 4.0parking (repeat to fade) also.. :)

Thanks for your support, im sure we will have a lot of teething stuff to work out once we go live but we also have a reasonably large tech team standing by to fix the issues once they become apparent.

Yes, absolutely... BRING IT ON, BRING IT ON!!

I, for one, am quite prepared to roll with the punches.

There is -- by definition -- ALWAYS a direct correlation between entrepreneurial innovation and the onset of eleventh-hour bugs, patches and fixes... it comes with the territory.

This is web 2.0, where the 'stuff' is real ...and the faint-of-heart need not apply! :)

Keep ME posted...
