This Realty special works great with the other business that I've put on hold for far too long - creating Creative Videos and Video Tours for real estate companies. And of course I snagged those names :)

Hopefully snagging some good Realty names will be the push I need to get things going again. And the low cost makes it almost painless to add into the mix.

So far I've picked up 101 Realty names which I budgeted for. I think a lot of them have a really good shot of selling high especially when I add them to my other services.

The only thing I'm a bit bummed about is that I missed the best names because the first email announcement went into my spam folder, and I didn't start looking until a few days ago.

So bottom line: This was just the kick I needed, so thanks Epik for the great deal and resources.

Update: Oops I guess I'm over budget now, I just snagged a few more :)

Congrats Brad......since you "picked up 101 Realty names", did you snag 101.Realty:xf.wink: Whoever did is asking $3,000 for it. On another note, I may be interested in talking to you about your Creative Videos. Send me a PM if you are interested in talking, or you may be able to reach me via Linkedin under my "information" page.

Finally, this is a question for anyone following the .realty thread. I registered earlier; Expansion.realty. It was on my secondary list, and when i checked Estibot appraised it for $5,100:xf.rolleyes:. Anyone have an idea why?

That's all folks...enjoy the rest of your weekend:xf.smile:

    Thanks.

No, I didn't get 101 but I did get several others...

247365 - Means at any time, all year round.

    Area Codes for:
408 - San Jose, Campbell, Cupertino, Gilroy, Los Gatos, Milpitas, Monte Sereno, Morgan Hill, Santa Clara, Saratoga, Sunnyvale, and Palo Alto.

510 - Cities of Alameda, Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville, Fremont, Hayward, Newark, Oakland, Piedmont, San Leandro and Union City. This is where I'm currently living as a caregiver for my 84 year old father.

858 - San Diego beach communities into La Jolla, Del Mar and Solana Beach, and inland to Rancho Santa Fe, Rancho Bernardo and Poway. This is where I lived for over 35 years before moving back to the 510 area.

619 - Southern portions of the city of San Diego. Linda Vista Chula Vista, National City, East County cities El Cajon and Santee.

661 - Majority of Kern County, part of Los Angeles County, Santa Barbara County, and Tulare County.

    916 - Sacramento California's Capital.

I'll be happy to work with anyone for a win-win.

My guess based on a quick search is Expansion is a great real estate keyword and is being used by many existing companies.

In my case I have not started any outbound...waiting for Epik to do some general 'awareness' marketing and for more names to get registered so the pool for 'premium' names is smaller. Also tweaking my sales pitch(s) as the end users for a particular name may be very limited so I do not want to approach a potential buyer until I am fully prepared.

Thanks Brad....i really like the "area code" concept. My area, formerly "Hampton Roads" just went through a rebranding process where we're now known as just "757". While I own domains like 757Fitness.com and Welcome757.com someone beat me to 757Realty.com and 757.realty. Remember I said where the .com is available to pick up I'd consider doing it, and I only see where one of your area code domains has the .com available.

Brad...that's very commendable that you're caring for your 84 year old Dad. Besides just listing our domains with Epic, maybe we should all share some ideas about how we plan to "outbound" market our domains to realtors and brokers. While realtors in general may be a hard sell (maybe not), they're more approachable than the "average" end user. What I mean by that, their email addresses and phone numbers easily obtained and they take calls from total strangers like you and me.

    Finally...i have just four more .99 names to buy to make an even 200, so here are the names I'm going to buy as soon as I sign off;

    KnockKnock.realty
    Entre.realty
    470.realty (Atlanta Area Code)
    Valet.realty

I'm with you Mister Funsky(y) That said, with a $299 renewal in a year, time really is of the essence. I would say about 20% of my .realty domains would be considered 'premium' so I plan on focusing my "outbound" approach more on them. Best of luck to you golf genius:xf.wink:

May you have good luck as well!

My premium ratio is similar (about 20%) and will hate letting the others go at the end of a year so I am hoping the owner(s) of the .registry will see the benefit in offering us VERY reduced renewal fees before that time arrives.

With the 'dirt' biz making a lot of budget decisions in the first quarter of each year, that is when I will likely begin hard core marketing. Fingers are crossed I get a type in purchase before that push begins.

Now it is time to go out into the front yard and smack a few balls around (big day tomorrow...we are doing 36 holes with the aid of beer, wings and steroids if necessary!!!).

I got to commend you on your commitment. I think an extension that has such a high renewal fee is going to require a sense of urgency and commitment if one is going to successfully flip the domains, and I think you have that. The quantity that you have will give your sales platform a bit of legitimacy for customers on the fence, they will see the depth of your portfolio and sometimes I think that is reassuring.

Please keep us up to date on your progress over the year, I am rooting for all of you guys to succeed.

Thanks....just in case .realty becomes the hot item it has the potential to be, for .99 cents Hoosier.realty is yours(y) Note that someone owns HoosierRealty.com, and it's for sale at GD for $2,225. Oh, I also just picked up Pacer.realty just because I like it:xf.smile:

Thanks so much for the encouragement RogueWriter...it's been a pleasure getting to know you.

Excellent point about the registry possibly reducing the renewal fee....i've been giving some thought how the "end user" might be able to buy down the fee, and maybe we could split the fee with the registry. If I recall, Epik has a "Forever" register fee and maybe something can be done with that? Sometimes closing a deal is all about options:xf.wink:......"would you like fries with that"

I agree about getting a domain name type Realty domain but I'm not a huge fan of either of those names.

I picked up 10 domain name type Realty domains myself and am now closing in on about 160 total - okay yes I went a bit overboard :)

Regarding the domain name type Realty domains - I noticed that PremiumDomain . realty is in fact a "Premium Domain". Ha go figure and priced at a low $2,744 UGH so I snagged PremiumDomains . realty instead :)

The other 9 domain name type Realty domains I picked up I think are really good but that one is the best.

PremiumDomains.realty is good...better than either of mine. I have a total of 223 .realty domains now and I just uploaded a file to Epik pricing my domains at $375 and $875 for those I felt were Premium. I wanted to keep it simple so we'll see what happens. Thanks for sharing Brad(y)

Hey Rich I've almost caught up to you now - I just reached 202 Realty domains oops. I think I have to stop now :)

In the future could you do me a favor please? Could you do a tiny bit of domain scrambling on any domains I list?

I'm attempting to lessen the dreaded search penalty. For me that means at the very least putting a space around the dot. Will that prevent it? No but it will help some.

BTW, I have a new app that automatically does just that as well as many other things coming soon.

Brad...i'm not really sure what you're talking about? What is domain scrambling, and what's a search penalty? You may want to send me a PM about it.

On another note, every time I think I'm done picking cherries I'm back at it. I'll share this with you and others. When I was first introduced to new gTLD's about three years ago, I thought they were the coolest thing going and I couldn't get enough of them. Having named dozens of businesses over the years, I felt anything right of the dot that was part of your actual name was pretty special. Ironically I just started a real estate company; Broad Bay Realty, LLC where I own the domains; BroadBayRealty.com and BroadBay.realty. Note that .com doesn't describe squat, but with "realty" being part of the name, it's a perfect fit:xf.smile: Also note how much shorter the .realty is compared to the .com. It's actually 40% shorter, and isn't shorter always better when it comes to domains:xf.rolleyes:

Accumulating the .realty names like I have has been quite an education for me about the 100K plus business names/domains that already exist in the real estate world.

    Finally, here are the last few cherries i picked;

    Advanta.realty
    Shoppers.realty
    Entre.realty
    ShowMe.realty

Can you imagine answering your business phone, "this is Shoe Me Realty, can I help you:xf.smile:

Here's an extreme example of domain scrambling...

    E*x*a*m*p*l*e :xf.wink: com

Basically add random characters into the domain so that the big G doesn't spider and list your domain when someone searches for it.

Why? Because if they do, a potential buyer will be able to read all the juicy details of what you paid and what other people say about your domain and that's likely to hurt sales.
That's pretty good and only time will tell.

I still don't understand? When I hand reg a domain say at Epik for .99 cents, is that a matter of public record? And what do you mean "what other people say about your domain"? Regardless, I don't see it as being a big deal anyway. Now if they're able to steel my domain that's another story:xf.frown:

Hmm, I thought I was real clear but okay.

It isn't about hiding the actual record of who owns the domain at all. It's about making it too easy for potential buyers to find what people HERE on NP write about your domain.

When search engine's crawl NP they record everything including unscrambled domains. If a domain isn't scrambled the domain will likely appear at the top of a search engine listing when someone searches for that domain.

BTW, NP is a very popular website currently having an Alexa Rank of 7,160 which is considered an authority site. So it's almost guaranteed that an unscrambled domain will appear at the top of the search page because NP is trustworthy and very relevant.

It could really hurt sales when someone discuses the details of their domain on NP and a potential buyer reads what is written, especially when they read how much the seller paid to acquire it.

The potential buyer can also see other people's opinion about your domain either good or bad. Most of the time people on NP are very tough with their opinions and that will likely hurt sales.

    I hope this helps.

It does Brad....thanks. I never gave it much thought when doing research via Google etc., that it sometimes led me back to NP? As you've probably noticed I'm pretty transparent...I have nothing to hide and I benefit from it. As a result I've met domainers from all over the world who have influenced me one way or another.

You've probably noticed I'm a pretty determined guy much to the chagrin of traditional domainers. That has served me well which brings me to new gTLD's like .realty. I thought many of the new gTLD's were cool as hell when first introduced to them and I still do despite my portfolio being mostly .com's. This is why I'm developing a targeted portfolio specifically for the real estate industry that happens to be HUGE!

    Thanks for your input Brad(y)

I have no idea. I guess you'd have to ask the costume designer from the film crew.
