I've decided to write yet another post (2nd) with some tips for domain beginners. This time focusing on selecting .com domains. But first I need to add some context as well.
Why .com: I have addressed this in previous post, but shortly: As a beginner your best bet is to deal with coms only...

Anyone interested?
Place your bid at DropCatch and SnapNames, or whatever your dropcatch preferred option is.
(unfortunately not so many options out there apart from these two, I guess)
Good luck!

How do you currently succeed at getting expired / dropped domains vs. 1 year ago?
Has the competition increased? Anything specific you notice, such as Dropcatch/ SnapNames fetching more domains etc.? Any strategies to mitigate if increased?
Feel free to vote and comment.
Thanks!

When people say they have great success hand registering domain names, they don't realize that it is not helpful to anybody except bragging about how good they are.
Imagine you are very good in hand registering domains. Which means you are making more than average from your hand registered...

I have some 20 names or so that I have been holding for 3 years. I believe in some of the names extremely, but none of them have received an offer or any interest from an end-user. Never marketed to domainers.
The names mostly comprise of the following:
Around 12 .COMs
Around 6 .CO
3 .NET

Currently $45k. 2 days left.
I was surprised when I saw it drop yesterday. Apparently Dropcatch beat Snapnames.
So will Kau go for >100k?

I was just watching closely, the drop of a couple .org domains today. And finally realized that something I have observed before is actually consistent.
Unlike .coms and .nets, .org drop seems to be accessible to registrars in a tiered fashion. Not all hands are equal. Was watching whois info...

I had been curious to know what drop strategy/approach domainers have adopted when it comes to holding some names and dropping the rest. Having seen a lot of domainers following an aggressive drop strategy it got me thinking how many domains domainers drop on an average from their portfolio as I...

One of the priciest *pay.com domains ($22k) got dropped today and is now on auction.(Dropcatch.com / no affiliation).
How does this happen?
I am guessing this was probably a fake sale via Sedo in order to pump the domain price.
What do you think?

What domain did you drop in the past, which you now regret dropping?
I dropped KoinBlog(dot)com which I acquired here on NamePros and was banking on the crypto industry to give me a good return on this one(in the ballpark range of $3,000).

Upon analyzing a data sample, which covered one million domains registered across the eight leading TLDs, web hosting firm WhoIsHostingThis discovered that a mere 30% of all web domains are renewed after 12 months. This means that the true extent of the churn rate for domains across TLDs is 70%...

They just beat Dropcatch on a backorder. It was a domain which multiple people probably backordered.
The registrar doesn't offer dropcatching services and the domain went immediately to uniregistry market after it was caught. Never heard of this registrar before. I guess their one in a million...

Shall I drop my brandable domains that has not been accepted by brandable marketplace such as BrandBucket, SquadHelp or BrandPa? Or shall I wait for 'the right time to come' for such made-up words!

shishicai.com just end with rmb ¥4625069 in a pre-release auction(expired auction), which is equal to $680000
shishicai.com is a kind of lottery in Chinese.

Currently mrhz.com is at auction on DropCatch (sitting a little over $200 at the moment).
The funny thing is, DropCatch caught that name last year and it sold for over $1,000. Now here it is a year later, dropped and at auction again. Huge waste!

I guess this is the right place to ask this kind of question. I've been eyeing a domain name which has been expired since last June. Details are as follows:
Expires On
2018-07-26
Registered On
2015-07-26
Updated On
2018-09-07
So today is 2 months and 1 day after expiry. However, it is pending...
