I have just bought my 100th 6n.com that I would call premium (as well as owning some others not as good). I'm now not looking to buy more unless great opportunities come along in the coming weeks, or indeed to sell my better names for a while.
Many do have 0/4 in them but they have good patterns or have something about them.
(N.B. I do not consider myself an expert by any means unlike Jim Holleran and others, but do have a better understanding then I did some months ago. I also hope people find this post useful or at least some points in it of value).
Here are a few examples of those with and without 0/4:
226388.com
611198.com
666731.com
299928.com
399936.com
828787.com
812881.com
etc.
Some with 0/4:
808065.com
802221.com
588220.com
880112.com
000313.com
etc.
It has been a painstaking process and extremely time consuming (not to mention costly).
I only entered 6n.com late in the game 2 and a bit months ago, way after this thread was initially started and every single one of my 6n.coms has been bought not registered so of course had to pay what at each time was a premium to reflect that.
I prefer not to brag and state what the portfolio may be worth in today's market but safe to say the ROI would be big. This is also factoring in 2 pretty big corrections in that time, partly due to it being the quietest time of year for domains in China as well as everywhere else IMO.
A few things I have learned:
1. If you have a feel for something and really believe in it, go all out and don't feel inhibited. Of course only spend within your budget and what you're comfortable with, but, don't be scared. Buying a few names total will not cut it if 6n's do continue to rise in value over time.
2. You need to track the marketplaces like a hawk day after day to get a feel for what sells well and what doesn't sell as well. You will learn a lot along the way. What you may spend big money for, does not necessarily mean the Chinese buyers will pay up for them as much as you want, tracking the data in detail is vital.
3. Buying at auctions like godaddy and namejet etc. is an option but in my opinion you're going to have to pay over the odds to get most good names as the big Chinese buyers want them, so in my opinion for many names you're better off patiently watching the forums and waiting for the right opportunities to come along. That is likely to give you serious ROI as people sell under value occasionally, great bulk deals, need fast cash etc. etc. It takes time but is well worth it IMO.
4. Speak to mentors and those with more experience then yourself along the way, you'd be surprised how helpful and willing some people are to give of their time to assist along the way if you're polite and professional.
Following on from the above I want to extend a serious thank you to everyone involved along the way but in particular
@Jim Holleran,
@GravityEleven ,
@TargetNames as well as others.
To finish, I am fairly confident that after the New Year prices will move up again, although premiums have in many cases gone up even in this quiet period of time of recent weeks, especially triples and good patterns with and without 0/4. No one has a crystal ball of course, but i'm very content with where 6n.com is at overall.
I wish everyone the best for 2016!
