1/ No : I'm 100% sure. Certainly
when you renew you don't have to pay more then a normal renewal at most registrars.
Only if they drop they become premium and suddenly registration is 1.200 USD or more 3.000, 12.000 etc... But some with not so popular letters are not premium, and when they drop are not premium. and can be registerred at normal price, but usually are catched.
There's a specific place that I can check that. (when there are lots of drops-only then I can check that).
2/What I find disturbing though is that with LLL.CO domains that I renew (LLL.CO), at Namesilo, I suddenly see that they call some of them premium and others not at checkout. BUT they don't charge for the renewal 1.200 USD or 3.000 or 6.000 or 12.000 (like with
most re-registrations of LLL-premiums cost that drop since
1 september 2018), but 23,99 USD for a premium-renewal, and 22,99 USD for renewal of a non premium-LLL.CO.
I even took printscreens of it, when I discoverred that. (For instance I renewed 4 LLL.CO's and 3 are highlighted in red and cost 23.99 for the renewal and 1 is not highlighted and is 22.99 USD for the renewal. Elswehere (other registrar) I dont see difference when I renew : It's simply the normal renewalpricing (and no distiction is made)..
PROBABLY IT WILL BE SO HOWEVER THAT the ones that Namesilo call premiums, will cost suddenly more if I let them DROP next year.
But of course I don't intend to do that.
IT WILL BE NECESSARY to CONTACT THE REGISTRY to get certainty that these domainnames that are called premium at Namesilo,
not suddenly will have to be renewed for a lot of money in the future (f.i. next year),
because that would be a VERY NASTY THING TO DO, because I didn't DROP these domains.
That 1 $ difference at Namesilo, is acceptable and can be something that only happens at Namesilo. And usually everywhere else renewals of co's cost more.then the 23.99 USD. (In fact I don't find it acceptable, and I want to formally protest to the registry about it : When you renew in time : the renewalrate may not be suddenly more then the norma renewalrate).
IS THERE ANYBODY WHO KNOWS THE CEO-phone or address and emailaddres OF THE .CO-REGISTRY about this ? Maybe we should all protest against somedthing like that.
