exactly TruckCrashLaw would be a name we would see go for free here, but someone actually bought the name for $9K

Light Rock USA probably are the ones who bought the name, They are a solar farm and as we know solar is a big deal right now

I am just interested in knowing the conversation, I mean this is a total inbound lead, and what figure did Mike Mann start off with and negotiate down to $94,888 ... seriously, did he respond, $150K ? $300K ? Or did he just say $94,888 and the buyer just said “yes ! that is a great price” lol :)

More than likely it was his BIN Lander as is 90-95% of his listed names. :)
(however does not mean they did not pick up the phone and try to negotiate )
Just guessing..

It's a numbers game, and Mike is playing with large numbers. Even with his astronomical asking prices, he's going to hit some home runs here and there.

*Hats off* to him for finding great success in doing something that he loves, and for inadvertently sharing his model with us. *Fingers crossed* for the rest of us.

if it is a company called Light Rock, they could have filed a trademark case and get the name for free? no?

If Mike Mann can prove that he registered the name before the company had their trademark and company filings, he would win in ICANN court all day

Most companies will just pony up the money to buy the domain though, because it takes a lot of time and sometimes even more money to acquire a domain through brute force then it is to just pay whatever amount the seller wants

Post your opinion here
On short, why the company would be entitled to get the domain for free?

Always good to see Mike reporting such awesome sales. I checked light/rock in 'named as entire list' spreadsheet file which domain/market.com shares on their website but didn't find it. Maybe it's from his make offer list as per below Google results.

BoatsForSale is just “bragging rights” for OneMarine whom owns it now, in 2013 the name was sold by Frank Schilling for half that ... even still it’s one of the few triple keyword domains that can hold a six figure valuation and sell for six figures

BettingTips is not surprising at all

Green Street is brandable for the marijuana industry, also not surprising ... I represented Blue.com 5 years ago and they could not even get a $100K offer - makes no sense, the Blue Man group passed, IBM even passed ...

FiveNine - interesting result

FactoryOutlet - two sub par keywords -

Here’s a funny one for you, why is Cats.com still for sale, look who owns Dogs.com ... Guess what, Petsmart passed ^

Steve Wynn, Smith & Wesson, and South West Airlines passed on SW.com 😂 actually Southwest offered $100K - did not move for a year and the name ended up selling for $600K in China

How is it that Mike Mann can sell sub par domains like LightRock.com for $100K yet seven figure domains and domains that actually make sense sit unsold or sell to the next investor, because an enduser does not understand domains or is too stubborn to make a fair offer ... I just don’t get it, and you can say I’m drinking hatorade but honestly, think about it ... when you look at dnj results, you gotta think to yourself and ask yourself, “are all of these authentic sales”

The end user is generally too cheap to afford ANYTHING and EVERYTHING.

Yes, I give him credit for Phone.com, SEO.com, Menu.com which are premium. Many others, sorry, pass. With the money he's made, you'd think he would upgrade his domains. I see Oxley as a prime example of this. Oxley's portfolio speaks for itself. When you see his list of domain names you can't help but think damn. Oxley's portfolio makes you feel like you've walked into a premium boutique, while Mann's portfolio feels like rummaging through a junkyard.

Mann is even hawking his stellar domain names JPMoran.com and GoogleMicrosoft.com using his lucky charm 888 pricing. Get real...

I think there is something wrong going on under his sales...maybe black money converting to white ? ... maybe ...
i am saying because of thats a crazy number for this normal domain.

Crazy per you.

To the end buyer, that is an investment in brand or business name, may be?

Domaining is subjective, period.

Trust me when I say I’ve been there and done that and I am well aware of value appreciation on certain investments

I can tell you I had the opportunity to represent all of Mike Manns portfolio once upon a time, I knew someone who was genuinely interested in his entire portfolio, but he would not sign a contract when I was a broker at that time ... he told me he wanted $100M and he was not willing to sign a simple contract

Now I have learned to take everything that is reported with a grain of salt, I however am also aware there are some sales that occur that do blow minds, I mean I sold sicily.properties one month ago for $1,200 - a name my partner and I registered in 2014 ... so I understand value appreciation very well,

I just do not view all the domain news as genuine, especially Mike Mann news, he is notorious for selling the most idiotic names for loads of money, a good example of this is the name, TruckCrashLaw.com which he apparently sold for $9000 ... I don’t know, just does not seem authentic to me

IMO TruckCrashLaw.com is actually worth 9k or more if you ask me. if you just look at the google PPC rates for Law, combined that with truck accidents, insurance, this domain value is clearly worth it.
For a company that specializes in truck insurance, or truck law, this is an easy buy since even if they get 2 actual business quotes from it, they probably made their domain's worth investment back.
PPC on truck crash, insurance will rank at around $50+ per click.
Also, in the states ____Law is usually treated as an official name, anyone with Truck Crash Law becomes the authority on it, and can easily advertise too, TRUCK CRASH LAW, hard to forget for truck drivers. IMO worth $20k for end user or in the right hands, easily $100k.

we should all be happy to see this, its only a matter of time before domains get to join the crazy explosion in asset valuations going on now.

Asset valuations going up? Far from it. They are dying as no one has any money to buy. 2020 was the worst year since 2004 - since I have been involved. Maybe it recovers next year - I hope.

What are your thoughts on these name sales from the past year (from dnj)

BoatsForSale.com $396,769
BettingTips.com $150,000
GreenStreet.com $100,890
FiveNine.com $100,000
FactoryOutlet.com $89,999

I would pay no more than $1k for boatsofrsale.com, and TRY to get 5K for it. If you told me that sold for %50k I would not believe it....but 400k...bizarre.

Just add "power" .com to the end of this name and it seems like a good Upgrade if you ask me ;)

If I had to guess :

https://www.lightrockpower.com/usa/ Price seems perfect.

I was wrong about the endures

But it’s 100% a LEGIT SALE!

SOLD TO THE .CO

Light /Rock / Holdings AG

(An Real Estate and Development Management Firm )

A even more fitting endures!

You all that are so quick to doubt and judge mike baffle me....idk if it’s envy or what but, want disbelief any sale that doesn’t make sense to you until you’re the reporting the 6figures with your own sale right, smh...

Anyhow Whois is has been updated: :)

Also funny the how the majority of people wanting to make false accusations against the “ Millionaire” are the same ones trying to achieve the same Status .it’s alllllll bs UNTIL ITS UR SALE RIGHT!?

Btw...neither ones of my largest enduse sales have bothered to change NS on the names! Sometimes they just want to own the damn thing, without using it, yes it happens!
