Thank you to all the community members who took time to research the facts of the situation prior to reaching any conclusions.
To summarize - we received numerous reports about the domain name breonnataylor.com. Following an investigation, we found it was indeed inciting violence and unlawful behavior against the police department that had nothing to do with the domain, so we decided to take it down per our T&Cs. In an already tense situation, leaving up the domain name would have been irresponsible and only serve to create further anger and pain.
To help ease some of the damage done, we decided to instead forward the domain name to support the GoFundMe of Breonna Taylor's family, along with a 10k donation. We are currently trying to get in touch with Breonna's family and offer them access to the domain name. Otherwise, we will deactivate the domain again once the GoFundMe campaign is completed.
We hope you will stand with us in supporting Breonna Taylor's family and the Black community dealing with these injustices.
“Oh I looked at wayback and saw june 1-2. Didn’t see anything illegal but that’s IMO.

Seems @namesilo simply didn’t like how used.
A board member with the Louisville Metro Police Foundation says there is a fake fundraising website using Breonna Taylor's name.
BreonnaTaylor.com was taking users to a page to make donations to the Louisville Metro Police Foundation, a private group that raises money for things like Shop With a Cop.
Great move in my opinion and well done on the donation.
Oh dearest short sided Samer

I wholeheartedly agree.
In a domain world with registrars being short on ethics and morals, @namesilo just put themselves above and beyond, in a class of their own (imo).
Keep up the great work at @namesilo !!!

Yes Grilled, and @namesilo just did not do this off the cuff, they took some time to investigate, spoke to sources, it was not "Oh we want that domain and will make sure it corresponds to our sensibilities."
Plus these kinds of names are certainly susceptible to UDRP's, Famililes going through such terrible times should not have to deal with extra burden of that.
And here is another unrelated thing, doesn't matter who likes it or not,
All registrars have the right to cancel a registration in the first 30 days no matter the reason, nothing related to how it's being or not being used. There are many people, some domainers who are going to look up and see if a registration takes place when a human being is harmed. They are going to bring it to the attention of the registrar and apply pressure for the registrar to do something if it's being used in a nefarious manner. Nobody stopping that.
I will commit to transferring at least 100 domains over to NameSilo by year end. I don't care if other registrars are offering coupon transfer threads. Right is right. And wrong is wrong. #tiredofthebullshit #standup
I will need to transfer out my domain Amar.us from them as I don’t want that someones opinion takes control of my domain because of content lol.
But aren't you from Europe? .us is for US citizens and residents only, if you're not one, it can be taken away from you anyway.
As promised, transferred 100+ domains to namesilo for their efforts with BreonnaTaylor.com, completed.

White Lives Matter too.
Who said they don't matter?
Everyone knows, all lives matter, maybe it's just you missing the point.

Does it still count as above and beyond if the donation money came from extra proceeds from duping auction participants?
Personally, I care more about @namesilo decisive action (exercising the terms of service), than the $10k donation.
But (speaking to another thread) you do have a point to question the funds origination.
Seems a little Robin Hood -esk to me.
Stealing from the rich,
to give to ...
While I am a fan of Robin Hood.
Who is namesilo to determine the rich?
Or if not a matter or rich or poor,
who is namesilo to steal?
Before we throw the baby out with the bath water, perhaps give it some time for @namesilo to remedy the issues that persist in their own house. They might surprise us, as they surprised me when they exercised their ToS to support the greater good.
So, yes, it was intentionally dirty for the auctions and to me that makes the whole donation thing nothing more than PR
Be that as it may,
I still find the decisive action taken by namesilo to be more meaningful than the donation itself. There is another thread for you to air your namesilo auction complaints.

Which has received over $6,263,950.
So in comparison, $10,000 only makes up .00159643675% of the total collected thus far.
Some things are more important than money. Such as trickle effects. Hopefully namesilo applies that same logic to their auction deceptiveness.
Hi,
We have not added any functionality to deceive users. That would be quite clear that that was being done and makes absolutely no sense. Can you clarify the issues you have experienced and I can look into your case specifically.
User error is something that we manually spend our time fixing every day and do so on a case by case basis. The case you are mentioning above was handled with the user after they reached out to our support team and explained the issue.
It is in our benefit to fix any potential usability issues as it ends up taking our support time to fix misunderstandings and actions. If you have specific feedback on the page or any of the pages, Id love to get it either here or in a PM as we work on our redesigns and updated versions of our pages.
yes, that user was refunded down to his winning bid of $50.
In terms of allowing users to take actions - this is a good question as to how this is controlled. You are of course free to hit your car with a hammer and start a fire in your house. Hopefully you dont do these things. But hopefully you also dont outbid yourself on an auction. We are still investigating how exactly this happened and adding more logging to be able to follow better if this happens again.
Just to be clear more forcefully - we are NOT crafting anything deceptive! The marketplace interface has not changed since I took over Aug 2018. If there is something unclear on our platform that you feel could be clearer - please let me know. We are working tirelessly to update and improve the platform and this does NOT include trying to fool anyone.
