Efty Marketplace Example

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Today I signed up for the EFTY 30-day trial to test the look and landing page customization feastures. I already have a portfolo on another site. I was just curious what other domainers have done to see what features are available etc. I did notice it did not automatically upload my .TV domains but it did look at WHOIS to find most of the others - even those which were expired. I decided to "not publish" most of the Spanish domains on this EFTY site. Anyone have some examples....

I've tried Efty for a month now, and I'm really happy so far. But there is one feature that really needs to be implemented asap, and that's SSL on all landing pages (not just the marketplaces). @Doron Vermaat, is that something you're working on?

It's already done - they sent out an email to subscribers the last week or so.

If you use a structure like https://eftymarket.com/domain.net/ (with of course domain.net replaced with the actual domain name), as long as you have activated the feature in your Efty it brings the user to a secure site. Works like a charm! Thank you Efty! @Doron Vermaat

It's very unlikely you will see that happening at Efty or any other platform/marletplace in the near future. We have thousands of domains moving in and out our zonefile each day. Installing and maintaining SSL certificates for all those individual domains is a mission impossible.

Edit: as @MetBob said we do offer the option to redirect your For-Sale landing pages to SSL secure landing pages on EftyMarket.com

So maybe I misunderstood what he was asking for? It seems to me what was recently implemented in Efty is that, but I gather from @Doron Vermaat reply just now it was not. I know it is not an individual certificate for the domain, but does that really matter?

I understand the problem, but nevertheless, I don't like it. I guess I will have to redirect to either my own marketplace or the Efty marketplace.

Yes, I know your own marketplace and the Efty marketplace both offer SSL encryption, but I'd prefer to have my landing pages at the proper URLs.

When someone types in the exact domain name, it can't be a good thing when they get redirected to another URL. Don't you think it will hurt sales?

I am with you on that one and all my domains keep the originating domain name in the address bar. That said, the big boys like huge domain don't have that and it does not seem to be hurting their sales any.

You and others have more expertise than me probably, but personally I don't think it will hurt sales. In fact, I think that it might be the opposite. I think some novice potential purchasers will feel more confidence when they see that the domain redirects to a secure marketplace, rather than a one of site. I could well be wrong, but that's my thinking.

Exactly! And that's why I will need to redirect my landing pages to one of the options available.

But it would have been best if we could have SSL encryption on the proper URL.

Very true! Maybe I shouldn't worry about it.

You could use the option to "Redirect to my Efty Marketplace (SSL)"

This will forward to the Make Offer Page for the domain name at your own Marketplace

Example (for my Efty MarketPlace):
https://dotstore.com/domain/DomainName.com (where DomainName.com is the name you typed in).

Some might not like that it redirecting, but at least it is redirecting to your Efty MarketPlace. And it also displays the Make Offer page right away (I am still trying to figure out if that's a good thing). For now, I have the option turned on and just monitoring statistics...

NOTE: If you use Google Analytics at your Efty Market, then turning this option on shifts the analytics numbers from individual domain name to your Market Place stats.

Regards,
DN

Yep, that's what I've done.

Have you considered adding a free email address to people's Efty marketplace domains?

Email management and delivery isn't something we're keen on adding for the simple reason we don't have the expertise in-house to deliver a similar or better product to many of the existing services that are out there such as G-suite or GoDaddy mail.

I had to subscribe to a Godaddy mail account as I could not get mail to work with my hosting account at Host Gator, since name servers had to be with Godaddy. This adds to my monthly Efty expense.

Exactly! I have the same problem.

I have (temporarily) solved it by getting a new custom marketplace domain at Namecheap where it costs less than $10/year for an email address. Much cheaper than Godaddy.

Do you mean you had to hand reg a new marketplace domain to be able to get that $10/year deal?

I don't know if you have to, but I wasn't quite happy with my first domain, so I was going to buy a new one regardless of the email problem.

Oh ok. Well thats a decent price, I’ll look into it. Currently i am just using namesilo email forwarding which I think allows 100 free forwards/mo, but thats not very pro so I will probably try G suite or Name.com (or NC)

@Doron Vermaat
Is there no way to use an A record so the nameservers point to your host but your domain will go to efty?
I know my host said i could use their dns and control panel and forward the domain so i could have email and have the domain go to a facebook page

@Doron Vermaat can related domain names can be listed below the domain page. say for a real estate domain page, I want to display all my real estate category domains. Is that feature available in Market place

For example, i want to show all fab related domain on the bottom of the page
http://www.ibrandmaker.com/domain/fabely.com/

Yes they can. Tick the box that says Premium for the domains you want listed below.

Just be aware that they will show on the bottom of EVERY sales page.

The marketplace for a specific IP range was briefly down as we're doing some server reboots today. Individual For-Sale landing pages were not affected unless you have them redirect to your marketplace site.
