Johname will personally LIKE every post in this thread until he doesn't

No racist, sexist, homophobic material that woudnt be acceptable in the 70s please.
We are ok with boobs and we are ok with men with abs (or whatever it is that makes them attractive). Ogling is healthy. Violence, not accepting that it is shallow and non-meaninful judge of people etc. is not. The most important virtue of this thread is respect for all.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Yes, I remember the scene in Back to the FUture.

Damn, forgot about how GM cars back in the day had tufted seats.
All those damn little buttons that at some point would come out, messing up the looks of the seats.

β€œYou are on your own” quotes.

People are not always going to be there for you, that’s why you learn to handle things on your own.

No one owes you a thing. So don’t expect it. You are on your own.

If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you will fall into someone else’s plan and guess what they have planned for you? Not much.

You are responsible for your own happiness. If you expect others to make your happy, chances are you will always end up disappointed.

Don’t ruin other people’s happiness just because you can’t find your own.

Let the refining of your own life keep you so busy that you have no time to criticize others.

People will let you down in this life, promises will be broken. You should expect less of others and trust more in yourself.

If you don’t know your own worth and value, then do not expect someone else to calculate it for you.

At the end of the day, you control your own happiness.

Granny Smith.....the queen of the apple world.

Posted this on the sidebar of my blog:
The Empire has built 3 death stars, each to be the most powerful weapon in the galaxy.

They have all been destroyed by x-wings.

The Empire needs to invest in x-wings...

Your X wing logic is too simple @iowadawg! Remember we are dealing with a military empire..they need machines for their big budgets so they can supply their friends with sweet contracts...

I read an article where someone figured out the true cost of a death star and why the empire could never have built it.
Too expensive and not enough money in the empire, takes too long to build, not enough material available in the empire, etal.
But true, the logic is so simple, that the empire could not do it.
Something like the USA since WWII....got a tank now, but we need a tank for tomorrow and then another tank for the day after.
All to enrich the companies involved.
As my old buddy IKE said: "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some 50 miles of concrete highway. We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. This, I repeat, is the best way of life to be found on the road. the world has been taking. This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."

Dippin Dots has been the ice cream of the future for over 28 years.

Hacked Cameras, DVRs Powered Today’s Massive Internet Outage

https://krebsonsecurity.com/2016/10/hacked-cameras-dvrs-powered-todays-massive-internet-outage/

And to think it all started at ID's sleeping blog.

Peace,

Wow, what a interesting yet scary read. Really believe this quote should happen
In my humble opinion, this global cleanup effort should be funded mainly by the companies that are dumping these cheap, poorly-secured hardware devices onto the market in an apparent bid to own the market. Well, they should be made to own the cleanup efforts as well

The thing is... most people don't have a clue.
They live their lives with their cool, easy living, little toys, and have no idea how any of it works.
Most of the people that think they have a clue, don't have a clue.
Many of the people that know they have a clue, barely have a clue.
The real Sec cats are deep and dark and they do whatever, whenever, wherever they want. Period.
They stretch the walls. It's their world, and if we play nice, they'll let us stay in it. I'm not talking about gov hired guns and cyber warfare and all that jazz.
These guys... they don't care about that. They stretch the walls.

So in the above article Krebs was talking about a previous attack on his site.. An interesting read to be sure, but you will find in the comments that the attack wasn't on him, it was on his host, to see if his host had the heart to fight it off before kicking him off.

There’s no conspiracy here … it was a proof of concept test.

Of Akamai …

… which obviously wasn’t up to the task.

I like Krebs for the reading entertainment value as a security blogger. I like Brian.

But Krebs as Public Enemy Number One for large scale DDOS’ers … eh, there are hundreds if not thousands of security bloggers just like Krebs.

So the true target was Akamai itself … and what it’s response would be. Krebs was picked on because, let’s face it, Krebs is going to post what the outcome was more than just a simple one line blog entry about being DDOS’d and sorry about the interruption.

And sure enough, Akamai folded like a cheap suit when it got just too hot and too much of a nuisance. Unlike Project Shield … Akamai and AWS and CenturyLink TS etc operate essentially for profit only. They throw a few free bones out to folks like Krebs which is basically to get good PR. But when those free rides start digging into their wallet, the free riders get the unceremonious boot.

A proof of concept attack that once and for all proved IoT devices are lousy at security, even large services like Akamai can shoved to its knees and kicked in the teeth, and Brian Krebs can get muzzled by a Smart Waffle Iron in the kitchen of some farmhouse in Kansas.

The real question is (aside from the above) … is why do we have Internet Connected Waffle Irons that can be zombied and botnetted in the first place? Why do I need a IoT Toothbrush? Colgate is even experimenting with disposable IoT Toothpaste tubes supposedly that can reorder toothpaste from Amazon when you’ve used 3/4s of the tube. Meaning Krebs could in the future be attacked by the same product that attacks tartar."

And that, boys and girls is what it is about.
There was no malice intended. It's just a freeking wake up call.

Peace,
Cy

Well , didn't read that far! My thinking is basic, if the manufacturer wasnt cheap that vulnerability wouldn't exist! Kinda like lead paint in children toy..wrong wire gauge in electrical extension cords that cause fire etc..
Thanks for making it more of an interesting read @Cyberian
