some recent social media quotes from Mike Mann:

Regarding Paul Stahura Jay Westerdal etc posting about new gTLDs with corresponding live web sites A. the sites are not so great and probably wont exist long B. I wonder how many researchers it will take to find a live web site on a .Com domain like it did for these gTLDs?

What is .blackfriday ? Its the day Frank Schilling decided to invest in new gTLD domain extensions.

"It's great, everyone's gonna want this, I'm gonna make millions of dollars" -everyone gets sucked in to new investment bubble hype at one time or another

Nice collection of gems which can become very very valuable in next few years. This is exactly what investment in new gTLDs should looks like. All names make perfect sense, and almost all of them are killer in the particular string. Congrats :)

That approach is, at best, guesswork given that no one is able to predict what will happen to registration figures among the 1,000+ new internet extensions. New top-level domains have sold in far fewer numbers than anyone in the industry expected and have already caused a number of companies to close down.

The decision by Minds and Machines to put its contract out to tender in the first place is thought to have stemmed from disappointing domain sales

you heard it here first.

Exceptional quality. You are one of the very few that clearly get it.
I'm bearish on new tld's overall but if you're going to invest this is a case study in how to do it the right way.

I was going to comment similarly.

As you say time will tell.
This is an awesome portfolio and if anyone will make sales and ROI he will IMO.

That's what I was thinking, but then it's hard to say without knowing the acquisition price and renewal fees of each domain.

Only registries will make sales and have an ROI.

They'll be worth something in 10 years...the problem is that the companies and corporations that invested in this endeavor do not have 10 years to wait. This is one reason why they are dependent on domainers, so that as individuals you all can take on the costs and the risks.
So it's dead if you all make it dead because the end users (who are now enjoying snapchat, facebook and instagram) have absolutely no use for new gtlds. The only hope now is to get the small businesses to buy a domain name and I'm sure they are open to new gtlds....but if they don't even have a .com yet obviously this would be a slow trickle.
In conclusion: It's all up to you whether you are willing to allow the new gtlds to stay afloat because unlike .coms there are not any new end users.

The problem with going with domain counts is that they don't tell the full story of how a TLD is being used or developed. Some of the new gTLDs are taking on the same characteristics as early market ccTLDs rather than gTLDs. Some have gone on holiday by mistake. (Withnail and I movie reference.)

The ones with a high level of spam/freebie/stuffed registrations are very different in nature to actively developed new gTLDs and there is a formula to distinguish these zombie gTLDs from potentially viable TLDs.

Regards...jmcc

I registered wpplugin.online with the aim of developing it but when I consider the uncertainty of renewal rates, I dropped it and registered plugingalleria.com in its stead. Why should I renew a domain for $40 when same amount will pay for 4 years rent for a dotcom?
