Sounds like you know it all.
Do you see a big move towards .tattoo .horse .etc?

I don't know "it all" but I do know that I don't need to be familiar with every .extension to appreciate registrations, particularly word.word, that make logical sense and have obvious commercial appeal. If for some reason you, or anything else, thinks that they do please explain why that is. :)

I haven't read through the zone file for either .tattoo or .horse but I am certain both zone file dumps will contain registrations that fit well with both those extensions. I wouldn't expect either extension to have a high number of useful registrations.

If it's too confusing for you my advice is that you shouldn't invest at all. :) Only invest in something you can comfortably justify to multiple intelligent people that you respect the opinion of, and who have an appreciation of this topic.

Nobody has to be familiar with every possible gTLD to understand combinations that make sense when used appropriately. Some here can't appear to cope with the fact that they can't ever hope to be familiar with them all so therefore believe they need to condemn the entire lot. That's fine with me but the mentality of this way of thinking is starting to get old.
Totally with you dude. My statement was a sarcastic one, directed more towards the original .tattoo poster.

What you says rings true, and have surmised it nicely in a nutshell. But, commed tunnel-vision have many people bent in only one direction, unfortunately.

A bit of common sense needs to be had with gtlds. Only a few dozen words make sense with new extensions. The dot com also needs to be taken or desired in the same keyword word and gtld word.
I can see why many will never renew. i see 1k etc for dot properties etc when only a dozen would be relevant.

Who here has built a website on a .tattoo and .horse domain?

Nope.
But some tattoo shops have. Such as

Many strange extensions, I think almost user don't know about those extensions.

Only the ones which make sense can survive...not the others,so it was gonna happen sooner or later..

As you probably noticed, many of these extensions are VERY niched.

Craft.beer works great, but not Casino.beer (unless for a beer brand called "Casino")

Casino.vegas works great, but not Craft.vegas.

And so on...

Yep,as I said, the ones which make sense have the potential to survive

Ngtld's are cool but the renewal fees aren't. Game over for me.

You need to invest in those with low renewal fees :)

I never did give into the new extensions much. I still primarily focus my efforts on .com and .net. All you need to do is check the daily sales reports to see that .com is still the most preferred extension.

"I believe .Web will suck all the oxygen out of the room and I believe a lot of domain investors that are weak financially won’t be able to participate in that game at all. I wrote many times that the big winner for the GTLD’s may not be a GTLD. I am on record as saying it gives folks another reason to take a look at .net, .org, .TV, .info and others BEFORE you get to the new extensions. You have seen dot net prices go up, not down."

I disagree that new TLDs are making .Net prices go up. I still hold dozens of my best .Net domains from years ago and have not sold one in the last year. Several years ago I would have occasional low $XXX sales. IMO new TLDs marginalize everything other than .COM and give low-budget buyers (which is the vast majority of the general public) a reason to not pay for an aftermarket domain. I still believe .TV is a unique niche but the $30 renewals make them difficult to hold as renewals consume the proceeds of any occasional sale. .COM has the most end user demand of any TLD and reasonable renewal costs. No other TLD can compete.

Rick is likely talking about ultra-premium .net, .org, and cctld domains.

Dave, If the Industry had more people Like Ron Jackson and Adam Dicker there would be less fraud not more. I can name some names you should have mentioned, but not them.

That's after the Godaddy/Adam Dicker TDNAM bidding scandal. https://www.wired.com/2008/06/godaddy-vp-caug/

That's after the Satan's Playhouse charge: http://www.satellitetoday.com/uncategorized/2003/06/13/mounties-get-their-satellite-pirates/

That's after the mugshots.com shenanigans: I suggest you Google search "mugshots.com, Adam Dicker" for a view or two of this pillar of integrity (as some would have us believe).

That's after the aolpayments.com WIPO decision: http://www.adrforum.com/domaindecisions/606425.htm

That quote above from Rick Schwartz's blog, and apparently from Rick Schwartz himself, makes me want to throw up. Of course someone may have hacked into Rick's blog and posted that glowing accolade without Rick's knowledge. You believe that?
