Spaceship Spaceship
Welcome to another edition of Top Topics here at NamePros. Here's a selection of active discussions for your reading pleasure:

Is it an infringement for an app's developer to name it after a domain name they don't own? Why can short domain names sell for thousands of dollars? When a domain is registered in many TLDs can this be used as a valid metric? Here's how to sell domains via outbound pitches and not get flagged as spam; A user's commitment to new gTLDs is lasting for the long haul.

What’s considered infringement?
The owner of the domain Baby.io is upset, as a game app developer names their product "Baby.io". He wants to know if this action constitutes an infringement of his brand's rights and a lawyer explains how the trademark universe works.

I officially don't understand domains anymore
Short domains that are combinations of letters and numbers can fetch thousands of dollars at auctions or the general domain aftermarket. A domain investor is perplexed by that, listing the sale of H33.com for $19,500 dollars as an example; how could this be a good name for a business? Join the discussion and find out.

Buying domain names taken in multiple extensions. Advantages & Value?
When a domain name is taken in multiple extensions (TLDs) could this be used as a demonstration of value? Should one pay more for a .com domain that might be having issues in the future from potential trademark holders and brand dilution by existing TLDs? Join the discussion to share your strategies.

Outbounding Domains - How to avoid having email being blacklisted as spam?
When sending out an email pitching a domain to a potential buyer (outbound prospects) there's a chance that your email will never reach its destination! Perhaps the language used in the email, or the email address itself can contribute to its flagging as spam. Is there a strategy to avoid such pitfalls that might cost you a sale?

Why I have not given up on New gTLDs!
There are lots of arguments for and against using new gTLDs as one's brand or corporate name. A domain investor still believes in the value that domains in new gTLDs deliver to the end users and consumers and he shares his vision on why he still holds onto such digital properties.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Perfect selection of topics worth reading. Thank you @Acroplex!

I think the discussion started by @Leo2k on relevance of number of TLDs as a metric is particularly worthwhile, with good arguments on both (all?) sides.

Thanks again,

Bob

Indeed, it's a metric that can be ignored at times. E.g. when a single entity, for their own reasons, registers the same keyword(s) across numerous TLDs. It'd create a sentiment of false value. So each case needs to be examined more carefully.

Lots of other great discussions on NamePros this week, this is just a small anthology to get you going! :)
