It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

.PRO and .info - both are owned by Afilias.
Afilias - this is diagnosis...

I think the diagnosis is too many extensions. Had the previous status quo been maintained, I think .pro would have continued to make progress against less brandable but more heavily registered alternatives.

I have doubts. Registrations increased when the registrations requirements were relaxed, but .pro was already losing regs then stagnating before the rollout of new TLDs.

I agree wholeheartedly that .pro is a much better investment than .info.
Based on what ? Not on reported sales I guess. But .info is not great either, the recent sale of car.info is a burst of activity that is not representative at all.

I was referring to the data I quoted from here: https://www.namepros.com/threads/the-pro-discussion.522420/page-194#post-4838060

Still holding a fair amount of .pro domains although my portfolio has downside from where it was a few years back. .pro is still an exceptional extension imho! Keep seeing pro popping up in so many uses. Both Uniregistry and goDaddy utilize pro but neither has stepped up and are offering registration on their sites or are actually using a .pro domain which they should. I'm banking on uniregistry getting their first...but wish they would hurry it up already.

Uniregistry???
I already talked with them about .PRO a few months ago... as you see - ZERO.

I've stated my thoughts on .Pro a few pages back in this thread. In my opinion, the name .Pro is pretty much the best sounding professional / guru name you can get. It's just unfortunate that so few registrars offer it. I do see .pro making a comeback though in the future, especially as nGTLDs start to catch on. If GoDaddy and Uniregistry start offering it in the future *fingers crossed* then that will be pretty huge. .Pro already has 100,000+ registrations even without GD. Though it's also been losing registrations over the years. But the name is just too good for it not to make a comeback, is what I hope.

I'm not invested too big in .Pro. I own three "awesome" (I think) .Pro names though which I will gladly keep until I develop or sell, even though it means storing them at a registry that I don't normally use.

A propos, Dutch government officially uses ambassadeconsulaat.pro for its online appointment system.

There are many examples of .pro being used in production sites. Pulled this one up today that I haven't seen before. https://www.sidekick.pro/

It's really a great news!

This would be awesome if another company will pick up .Pro and market it properly! If that happens this extension can be HUGE again.

Can someone summarize all of these documents? Really unclear about what's going on and the state of .pro.

1. No any sale of .PRO-gTLD to another company, this is just standard practice to periodically renew agreement with ICANN.

2. Only this suggestion is important:
Public Interest Commitments to replace Appendix 11 Registration Restrictions (Specification 11): The existing Registration Restrictions in Appendix 11 of the .PRO Agreement are proposed to be removed and replaced with the set of standard public interest commitments applicable to all new gTLDs. Also, GAC Category 1 Safeguards 1 through 3 are added to Specification 11 to align with the removal of the TLDs previously included Registration Restrictions of Appendix 11.
