Just wondering what the general thoughts are about whether the recent trend to legalize marijuana will boost the prices of pot-related domains?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Personally, I didn't think the money was that much to warrant secrecy, other than me sheilding the buyer from countless emails from other domainers, but there were concerns over royalty issues. Maybe everyone fears the cloud now too.

Are long tail search phrases any good if they get exact matches?

This is my next endeavor that I've been pitching if anyone has any ideas. It has generated a lot of interest and even some excitement by a couple of parties, but so far no one has obligated themselves to funding it. I want to build a Mega Marijuana site and obviously I'm not capable of doing it. And, I need a detailed business plan that I have no idea how to formulate other than the basic concept. So, any input there would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to build a site around CannCom.Com and I have all these domains that I'd like to incorporate as menu items and independent links for directories, links and everything ecommerce that I can think of to generate revenue. I'd gladly do revenue share or trade domains for services if anyone has a website developer in their pocket. I do have one company interested in building it, but they're in india and I haven't really examined their portfolio yet. The domain name menu items would be;

CannBlog CannCapital CannCaregiver CannCertification CannClinic
CannCook CannCourier CannDomains CannGrower CannHires
CannIndice CannIndustrial CannJob CannKiosk CannKitchen
CannLawyer CannLink CannMD CannRSS CannSeed
CannShack CannTeen CannTV CannVapor CannWear
CannWorks

I know a couple of them don't make much sense, but that's what I have. If someone would like to partner up on this in some kind of way, I'm open to it. Any other advice, referrals or thoughts would be greatly appreciated too. Ok, on the road again back to Phoenix. Peace Out.

These are some of the sites that the Indian company has provided as a references to their abilities, I wasn't too impressed and it seems a little slow and maybe not utilizing the most advanced stuff, not really sure about all that either, any input there would be appreciated also.

I use wordpress and multinetwork my sites in it, so that site1.com and site2.com and site3.com all work with the same login info. Not sure what kind of site you mean altogether such as if it would have users, but wordpress has a lot of stuff that you can play with and test to get smoething you could like. If the site is simple enough, you may be able to do it all with free programs.

Very nice site. I certainly do not have that skill level. I have trouble just using a simple site builder. 2 months on one site and may have home page figured out. Over thinking it I believe

Hi Lee congrats on the sale and making it happen. Gives you quite a buzz, doesn't it?

WHOOOA slow down there. In domainerland we fit a business to a name because, well, we like the name and we all know good names bring success. Backwards from everyday life where you have customers, and then product, and then you need a name.

And then trying to glue a lot of other names on top of that? Makes no sense. I am trying to be helpful - you need to forget the names and see it as if you were building a business - what is the competition, who will come, what will they buy, what is the cost to build and maintain it. Start small, worry about the decorations later.

Congrats! Great win Nitin!

I didn't win it. I did bid upto $700 though, and let go after that. Great name though, rightly deserves the price.

lol if thats the case I have hemp domains for sale too, I agree some with the idea of not using site1.com for page 1 and site2.com for page 2, etc etc etc

But if you have the fully ripe plan and $ to go forward with it, AND make money...then go for it! I tried to do the same and ended up not doing 1 .com per/page. But it doesnt have to be per page, you might have a better idea than i have...but....make sure you start developing and testing before you start buying and working to do this....make sure you can first

Thanks all, just got back home. Yes Carob it is a giant buzz, but nothing like the buzz I'm gonna get from my stash....lol Too chicken to carry anything across the Arizona/California state line and Border Patrol checks. A week in San Diego with nuttin.......lol Glad to be home. Carob, I get what you're saying on the website thingy and I do really appreciate the honest critique. So far, you're the only person that has shot down the idea. So, here's my thoughts on that. I don't have the money to build the website and if you think I'm gonna use that for a website you'd be mistaken, I'm gonna pay off a mortgage...lol I figured that I could sub out the ecommerce sites as I found developers to develop them and they wouldn't be stepping all over each other and that would be about 20 backlinks. I started CannDomains.Com already just for something to do and it's already independent and running. It's gonna be a long an drawn out process for me to even come close to doing everything anyway. I thought it would be a good idea to do it that way, but I have no clue what I'm doing and do need advice. Take CannWear for example I could put t shirts, hats, hoodies etc with other domains that I have like ganjatshirts and cannabis hats that I have with the great keywords for seo and more valid backlinks. Otherwise one site is gonna be cluttered with the many ecommerce items in inventory and probably pretty difficult to manage and update. I could do another site with say grow lights, germination stations, detox stuff or whatever in the same fashion. The main site wouldn't have any check-out or cart stuff to clutter it up. The rest would be just links and directories of sort. That's how I had it planned out in my mind. I have domains for everything marijuana with great keywords.

Hoorah for Hollywood! Final negotiation for one domain. A little above mid $XX,XXX
Had to sign confidentiality clause and legally bound not to divulge any specifics.
That's all I can say. I removed domain from portfolio and listings to prevent
someone from determining the domain thru process of elimination, cause I ain't violating the
clause and I know there are some peeps in here smart enough to figure it out otherwise.
:)))))
Has this sale completed...as in you have the cash and they have the domain?

If so, it's one of the biggest pot sales to date, by my watch!

Mr. Leewiggins.got marijuanahoodies, marijuanajerseys for sale. Actually never sold a thing so probably would have difficulty figuring how to do the whole transfer thing and all that. Guess I better read up on it. You never know.

Try to actually get a page running and see what it takes. I have great ideas but always run into 2 problems.

1. Server and corporate limitations
2. Lazy

I thought you sold two domains for 75k ea last year?

I think the biggest was marijuana.com for 4.2mill.

Also i think someone mentioned Rosener just sold goodweed.com for 50k, not sure if it's official yet. Last i looked it was still under his company name.

Anyways big sales for many of us are right around the corner, digital marketing and retail is only getting bigger.

Shame dude, I totally could have hooked you up with this kid I met who worked the doors at the W in San Diego. Met him while out there on business; his hospitality was awesome and totally took care of me. B-)

No worries..some reading material for starters: Escrow.com - Domain & Website Escrow in 5 secure steps; and this handy Fee Calculator. Ask if you have questions :lookaround:

Actually just looked at the structure you're talking about Lee and it does look like something that would cost too much in the long run.

Unless you are trying to sell your domains or make mass profits from then, you're going to be spending $XXX+ on renewal fees if you do not sell any of these.

It could be done but the structure you're calling for just takes too many .coms and also would eventually need .nets .orgs

I think it WAS a good idea lol, it can always be better somehow though!

Try to start with one name / site idea and after you've worked on all the stuff you have no idea about, then start to draw up your master plan.

I can tell you, you'll be wasting loads of money like this. Whether its profitable or not is all up to you and how you make it

I read that as Potown.

To see what I'm seeing, go to Google.de and do an image search for Po.

Truth is I am wondering if pot is a good keyword when it comes to selling legal stuff and domain names today.

It seems this one is lost somewhere between Poe and Pot, in a sort of limbo. But I think someone will want the name one of these days. Here's my artwork for Ebay.

Not sure if this has been covered yet...

Peter Thiel of the Paypal Mafia is investing in a marijuana holding company Privateer.

Why do you guys post the domains you purchase every time? Your alerting other domainers (competition) that there may be some dns dropping or soon to be releasing? Think
