The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Take the money FAST . Ask the buyer to make offer through escrow. Do not pay for any appraisals . If he asks for appraisals , tell him to pay for appraisals (let us say $40) and deduct that amount from the offer.

You must be mistaking the name as this domain name is not yet registered.

Agreed, sell it (if the domain name is even registered, and the offer is truly legit)! :talk: :sold: :imho:

Good Luck,

That is a great offer for that domain in .US. You should take it and reinvest.

Yes, I asked to the first guy why he wanted it and told him how much i like the business name for myself too. But seeing people seems to like it, Im having second thoughts.

Confused but really really swaying towards selling :)

Didn't you say it was for your own personal company? If so, why would you sell it if the long term investment is greater than the short term ROI?

Apprasial scam

Oh, totally have to google first the terms u just said. O_O Newblood here. Thanks!

Watch out for the appraisal scam. They say they want the domain but you need to pay for an appraisal before they buy it. They refer you to a company (which they likely own).

If they are offering you money they have set the price no appraisal needed. Never pay for an appraisal. This sounds like a total scam since you just reg'd the domain (other extensions available). People scan newly reg'd domains and send out this types of emails. Just wait for the appraisal request.

If you have two separate offers and feel as though you wouldn't be jeopardizing the higher offer ($700.00), then you might consider countering the first (lesser) offer with a feeler. If they respond quickly you might be able to push it to a low $1,000 or so, if not or if they refuse, I would suggest taking the $700. That's a very nice price for a 3 word .us, very nice indeed.

Like I said Im confused. I just decided to change my own personal company's name recently so.. i dunno, really. :-/

Keeping it can be good to. It's got good keywords on it.

Domaintools is showing the .com is being offered for sale by a broker for 1,688. So if someone is offering you 800 for your .us, then it probably doesn't make any sense for any buyer to ask you to go for an appraisal unless you are being scammed just like they say. If this is an authentic offer, start the escrow process already (unless you want to really keep the domain for yourself).

If the buyer wants to put up a legit business like being a real web solutions provider as the keywords of the domain imply, then recovering even a 2,000 investment for a domain would have been easy, so why wouldn't he buy the .com instead when it is just a few hundred dollars more?

It's a great offer. Take the money, unless you want to redirect people from there to your new site? It must have good traffic, the question is do you care about it or do you want to let it go and reinvest? As for buying the .com, maybe they don't know it's for sale, or they don't want to pay the extra few hundred for it.

Thanks for the insights guys. Really appreciates it. You enlightened me. :)

I doubt it. All you need to do is type the .com on your browser and voila, the domain is for sale. And besides, it's hard to imagine any guy going into the "web solutions" provider business who doesn't do research on the available TLDs out there. If you are putting up an online business, knowing all the TLDs for the domain, is basic step that is impossible to skip.

or they don't want to pay the extra few hundred for it.
Those extra few hundred, you can recover in a few months, if you have a legit business. What's a few hundred extra, if the ".com is king" would be yours to keep forever if you buy that instead of this .us?

You're right, but... Some people

He could be new to it.

.com is preferable to most people but content and SEO play a huge role.

They might not really care about it. If .com was taken, I'd not bother with second best. Not for something like this anyway. But that's just me. No offense to the OP at all. I really think you should accept the offer. Good luck.

Revised domain name;

Realistically, who would be offering this $Xxx amount for this long .US?
If it's legit, take the money! :yell: :imho:

If it's legit, then perhaps the buyer is the same guy who is planning to buy the .com version.

He wants to settle the lower TLDs first as cheap as possible, before buying out the .com.

If he buys the .com first and people see the buyer as a big-time legit business, then those who own the other TLDs will be motivated to raise their asking prices if he plans to buy them all out. :D The 1,688 publicly posted price tag for the .com on this domain, is what is keeping the prices low. If that displayed price is taken down, then the price haggling will become more difficult to the buyer.

There is a guy who uses different names and makes offers for newly entered domains in auctions and insists on appraisals with a company he mentions himself.

He used Ray Gralinski and offered $15k for my domain - I wrote back and said I had already got a $17k offer :) and he upped the price to $20k provided I had it appraised with the company of his choice.

There is a forum on it already. He uses perfect English, but I traced his emails and they were sent from Moscow!
