A lot of stuff will still get blocked:
- Some things need votes from two-thirds of senators (67), but the Democrats only have 50. Many of Obama's policies got blocked that way.
- There are Democrats from right-wing places who practically act like Republicans. Joe Manchin from West Virginia was saying earlier that he wouldn't support $1400 stimulus checks, although he apparently softened his stance later. But him and others like that act more like Republicans, and end up blocking progressive policies.
The US system of government is screwed up and gives too much power to rural states. It's ridiculous that small states with less than 1 million people get 2 senators, the same as huge states with 30+ million people.
