The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Ouch.

You're absolutely right.

Time is still considered to be a serious brand.

Yet such an apparent checkered history!

Apparently Time has done other things right. I doubt they would put neo-nazis on their cover today.

It's my bad that I got sucked into this silly debate. I was talking about service providers.

"If freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter"
the real question behind all of this is who draws the line who sets the rules seems like everyday something new is deemed bad and something new is deemed good.
start censoring people as you please but once the snowball comes falling down headed your way don't be surprised
Exactly, we support Epik for everything they have done for our basic human right of free speech!
Many companies are doing the exact same thing (eg. Cloudflare or Njalla).
Do not become sheep!

I am always looking for better pricing...can you share your rate publicly? I wonder if Bradens leaving has anything to do with pricing/operational issues or was it more of a personal thing.

cloudflare $7.68 USD for renewals

So what🤣 Not being able to change NS?

That’s an inconvenience, u gotta give to get.

Also, prefer private company over public.

so what Not being able to change NS?

they have a build-in Nameserver
that gives you a lot of freedom of choice

I 'm able to set it to do anything I' d like

the only disadvantage is:
no fast transfer

but the question was
cheap renewals, right?

Samer

they offer a nonprofit
aka no markup price for .com domains
forever

they make money in case you buy their other hosting related products

the same strategy as your beloved epik :
( cheap transfers no discount on renewals make money with other products like sales commission )
( Rob hates them )

Cloudflare is a public company. (NYSE: NET)

Samer

I am not sure why you are so stuck on the public company thing. You mention it when people mention other companies like GoDaddy as well.

Guess what. Because they are public, they are actually subject to more accountability than private companies, not less.

They actually have to make financial and other public disclosures.

Cloudflare doesnt allow you to change NS.

Cloudflare is a public company. (NYSE: NET)

Samer
But their DNS is probably the best free DNS on the market, beating even paid ones (based on my tests and dnsperf.com) because they have a presence in almost every internet exchange in the world.
As for the public company thing, I partially agree with you - their support is bad, but if you are techy enough you do not even need it except maybe for the billing issues.
Public companies are more stable than startups but they lack fast support, that is the tradeoff.

If you ask me then I will tell that as being a domainer it's the biggest disadvantage. I would and many others avoid them because of this.

I have seen lots of people & myself sold names because of Afternic/sedo fast transfer feature.

Just my opinion.

what happen to staying on topic, namepros?

"Braden Pollock Steps Down from Epik BoD" was the subject

why is everyone talking about renewal fees? get your own thread! it almost like namepro wants this topic to be changed...moving to reviews section so it hidden, allowing people to talk about renewals for pages...

Cloudflare doesnt allow you to change NS.
Once you switch to cloudflare their DNS panel controls everything. From that point only certain records such as the MX must be matched with the MX at the host server, for email.

When you first engage cloudflare it will pull automatically all of your DNS records from your host although you might need to make some minor modifications to some of the TXT records such as removing “ or ; You also might want to add a second MX record for redundancy.

Once you switch to cloudflare, most everything flows through cloudflare’s proxies. The cloudflare advantages include complete anonymity from reverse IP hosting searches because so many unrelated sites are assigned the same IP, and protection from certain forms of hacker attacks that traditional servers are vulnerable to when their actual hosting IP address is exposed.

To leave cloudflare you just switch your nameservers back to those for your host, wherever the domain is registered.

I didn’t used to like the idea of cloudflare but after switching some sites to it I’ve noticed no change in speed (some say cloudflare increases site load speed) and an increase in anonymity and security.

Cloudflare is for hosted sites with content. Not worth the set up effort for parked, for sale sites.
