The first blockbuster deal of the decade. GoDaddy Inc. (NYSE: GDDY), the company that empowers everyday entrepreneurs, today announced it is acquiring Uniregistry's leading domain registrar and marketplace businesses. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal is expected to close sometime in Q2 2020. The Uniregistry domain registry is not part of the … [Read more...]

So you are seeing Uniregistry brokers already starting to leave, Brooke was one of the more senior brokers at Uniregistry. Obviously they worked under Jeff Gabriel prior, now that he started Saw, I guess these brokers didn’t want to be part of Godaddy, Brooke probably would have done very well at Afternic given the portfolio they now control.

Saw.com hires veteran broker Brooke Hernandez and Robert Wilson as Sales Consultants.
I received an email from Brooke. She is already brokering some big names it appears.

For Saw.com, I think she left a few weeks ago. The founder of Saw.com Jeff Gabriel was Director of Sales at Uniregistry for the longest time.

I think they took over the Future Media Architects portfolio over to Saw, which was previously being brokered by Uniregistry, which is an amazing portfolio, and a great way to start a new brokerage.

Looks like there is some movement already, after the uni-godaddy sale. I tend to check what's new with most marketplaces and looks like some players are moving their names from uni to brandable marketplaces, SH for example. One of them just listed around 150 domains-the acceptance rate is usually around 10%(which were using uni nameservers until now), with prices from 3k to 25k(higher than usual) mostly 2 word domains. Will be interesting to follow how many will switch and which marketplaces will be the big winners.

It will be interesting to see how many domains move out of Uniregistry also, as with some of the parking pages also.

I am aware that some of the brandable marketplaces are actively seeking domainers with 2000 plus names to move.

I wonder what STR could have the average domainer, with BB having close to 80k domains, SH close to 40k , BP around 20-30k? What visibility and how easy it will be to compete with everybody else? Let's see what the future will bring.

Think you will find that number much larger, I had people tell me today they saw $70 million and asked me if those people were under a doctor's care?

Marchex got $140 name
Mike Berkens $500 a name

Frank had 350,000 names (Nothing to do with Uniregistry) at $200 a name that's $70 million. At half of what Mike got that's $87.5 million.

I've checked at Sedo and Afternic - they are listed with pretty decent BIN prices.

Given 1% sell thru rate - it is 3000 * $9880 ~= $30MM sales per year.

BikerTits.com for $28,600. Now that's what I call optimism.

Maybe make an inquiry, and see how they sell you on it, or ask them to justify the price with similar comps.

I might actually do this. Might get a free masterclass in domain sales! Haha

@wwwweb mentioned Frank might have asked $50,000 to $100,000 GoDaddy will now ask $5,000 to $10,000.

If GoDaddy paid $1000 for them they'd still be making a killing. Let's remember that GoDaddy is under investor pressure every quarter so they have to sell.

Frank held on them for a long time asking high prices, maybe he just realized that he never needs to work a day in his life. Truly zero pressure. He gets cash in hand, peace of mind and GoDaddy makes a killing since they can afford to have capital tied down.

Your right, it takes money to make money, and if you can afford to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on a single deal, you are going to get great value on cost per domain. There just aren't to many people out there looking to spend a few hundred million on a portfolio everyday.

It looks like all Uniregistry inquiry pages now have the follow graphic above, but it doesn't link to a news release.

If GoDaddy plans to utilize Uni's landing pages with its own logo, along with BIN plus Make Offer option, then that should be a game changer.

That is pretty much what everyone has been asking for, it's the self inquiry method that will most likely go away, as godaddy will not want to give up that 20% revenue stream on the commission side.

DNS/Uni has been working on this lander platform for the better part of almost 15 years now, and innovating them along the way.

Which payment method?
Any method.
GD Auctions / Afternic payout delay is 2-3 weeks since domain was transferred to the buyer.

That is not the case for me.
Afternic sales are paid during 3 days after transfer was confirmed.
For Fast Transfer it may take up to 10 days till payout. But it is exactly 7 days for most cases.

It could be faster if you are US based and use godaddy as registrar, but for me, EU based, 11 days was the fastest payout ever, no matter if it's fast transfer or not.

In 2018 I lost 3 weeks to receive ACH from GoDaddy Auctions after the domain push at GoDaddy.
Never again.

I don't know how are you receiving your payments in 3 days. This is a quote from afternic support email, when I was complaining that it takes ages to be payed: "the funds are not released until 7 days after the domain sold for security purposes, if that day falls on a weekend, then the funds are released on the next business day". So, for some it takes 1 day to check the funds, for some it takes 7 business days to check the funds? Even after the 7 days, they need 3-5 days to process the payment and even that 3-5 days, sometimes they need to try a few times, until it's processed, and that's a payout to paypal.

Never again.
I lost 1 month to receive a bank wire from Godaddy, after they have already sent the payment. They use a third party payment processor, and when something goes wrong, they don't have a clue about what is happening.

This is not professional in any way.
Now I only receive funds by Paypal. There's no way to delay there.
