What are your thoughts on .xyz in the coming year or two ?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I went to NameBio top sales of 2018 and literally the second one I tried went to GoDaddy default.

Thx Bob, I suspect it was a domain auction buy or wholesale sale, right? or was it reported as sold to an end user?

3D printing has ben around for a long time now, do you see a lot of 3d printing domains sell?

.tk is free, therefore it is a good domain? .xyz domains are worth almost nothing because nobody wants them, junk tld. You can write essays to justify it but the names are still terrible!

1. I think you misunderstand what I said. What I mentioned is 3D technologies that include 3D printing, VR and many other 3D applications. Not just 3D printing. What's more, you are right that 3D printing has been for a long time, but the industrial use of 3D printing is in initial stage. Why? Thanks to the technological breakthrough in recent years, 3D printing is now much cheaper than the past, and hence more and more adoptions of 3D printing by manufacturing companies. Due to the lower cost, families will be able to afford to buy 3D printers and you can print a baby toy to play too. Finally, regarding 3D printing domains, do you see the sales on Namebio? I can see a lot of 3D domains sold. Among the sales, 3D printing related domains like 3dprinter/net was sold at $60,000 and 3dprinting/com at $33,150. Of course, there are many other 3D printing domain and 3D related domain sales, but I cannot list all of them here. Please do some research before in order to support your argument.

2. You are making the same mistake that you are not comparing apple to apple. How can a gTLD compared to a ccTLD. Besides, I never say that a free or a cheaper domain is a good domain. What I want to say is that it is not wise to spend a higher cost to buy a less fit domain. Also, nobody wants them??? I already shared real use cases of .xyz, showing that someone want this extension.

Please again, provide objective evidence to support your argument.

Oh dear, writing essays won't change the equation. Bad names = no profit.

3dprinting/com at $33,150

Just about the best one, where does it leave the value of other 100,000 3d printing names that people have registered?

It seems you have difficulty in reading slightly long paragraphs. I guess this may be the reason you cannot find research reports, real cases and statistics to support your opinions. Anyway, I don't mind to make my points shorter to let you read better.

1. My opinions are not intended to prove the equation is false. I agree that we cannot make profit from bad names. Just like I don't think we can make profit from johnnie018/com as it is not a good name at all (no registrations in all extensions while searching at Uniregistry).

2. My opinions are intended to show that .xyz is not really a very bad or junk extension because it keeps having sales, renewal costs can be afforded by companies and it fits 3D businesses (there are real use cases in 3D field). So we can make profit from .xyz based on your equation, given that the keywords used are good quality and fit the extension.

3. Where do you find the number 100,000? Don't create any fake numbers to support you personal thought and feeling. Only poeple without evidence do this stupid behaviour.

4. Based on your logic, everything is rubbish because your question can also be applied to all topics. Many people are registering bad names about hot topics, such as AI and blockchain, that cannot be sold. Does it mean these topics have no investment values? Of course no! There are great domain sales in the topics as well. I want to emphasize is that only names with good quality and commercial values can be sold at high prices.

5. Why are you always focusing on 3D printing solely? My arguemnts are focuing on 3D technologies. 3D printing is just a part of 3D technologies.

6. You have bad credit in behaviour in this forum already. That's why your account has been restricted. You are advised not to further damage your image by worsening your credit in opinions.

Absolutely, because the posts are over thought out and the end result is paragraphs of nonsense rather than common sense.

Think .xyz is a good extension? Good luck in your next career!

city name .xyz domain, maybe in the future the price will be higher.
I hope telaviv.xyz can have a value of 1% from telaviv.com

Not particularly commenting on the xyz extension but OP’s investment is typical of many new domainers. Will spend a dollar (and not much more) on something hoping to sell it for 200X or more, but won’t spend $200 on something that might well sell for 3X.

OP has posted examples of hand regs only on NamePros. He has acquired hand regs only.

My comment is not meant to be insolent it’s just a plain factual statement.

As many of you know, I hand reg all my domains.

Exactly.

You came on and lied denying that this was so.

You have no idea what I have bought and spent

I knew exactly what you had spent and it was reg fees only. And then one day after lying / denying you go start a thread admitting that you’ve spent reg fee only.

Next time just accept the statement and don’t get defensive would be my advice. It wasn’t meant as an insult it was a statement of plain fact.

As a newbie, what is the point of me buying expensive domains if I am still in the learning process ? Lose a lot of money or use good old common sense and buy cheap until I know what I'm doing ?

That’s a logical statement. Much better than just lying denying.

Anyway my response would be that buying something no one wants already means that it has been picked over and refused. But buying something that others have bid on or want implies that it has some demand.

A row of cars are for sale. Picking the one that no one else wants that is offered for the lowest price doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best choice for re-sale.

Let's just hope I don't sell anything then . However, if I do, you are going to lose your own credibility because it will look like you had no idea what you were talking about. It's just made me more determined to do more outbound and sell something.

The point is not whether you’ll ever sell anything. There are people on here who buy crap for a dollar and manage to hoodwink others into buying for twenty dollars. That counts for a sale but doesn’t make the original domain choice a good one.

The point is that you create multiple threads all asking if you’re wearing clothes when in fact you’re b. naked and then you don’t listen to or follow any suggestions plus lie/deny. So what’s the point of seeking advice from the NP community if you’re not going to listen? Sometimes in your posts you pretend like you’re listening but then go on doing the same thing and then create a new thread asking more or less the same thing.

Are you hoping that eventually someone will tell you that you’re in fact wearing clothes?

None of your business. If you really feel you need the answer then go waste some time looking !

you posted why you have no sales. On a public forum, looking at your portfolio, you wont be getting any sales. Quality over quantity, ya your learning, the hard way.

Please don't reply to any more of my posts because your time is precious and I'm not listening to your personal digs anymore. You should concentrate on the original question
