I've been advised by old time domainers not to hand register domains. I still don't know why, but every single one of my 1,500 plus domains have been hand registered. While I agree it's unlikely I'd hand register a domain for $10 today and turnaround and sell it for 10K tomorrow, I do believe it's entirely possible to hand register a domain today and reap the big bucks down the road.

For example...today I was driving home and hear on the radio an add for a Crab Feast in my area. In the add, when someone was asked if they were going to the crab feast, their comment was ShellYeah! So I'm thinking, when I get home I'm going to see if domains like ShellYea(.)com or ShellYeaSeafood(.)com was taken or even ShellYeaOysters(.).com. Of course if you haven't picked up that this is a play off the slang term "HellYea" you may never understand:xf.confused:. So then I'm thinking, how might this domain sound as the name for a national Seafood Restaurant like Red Lobster or Bonefish Grill or Joes Crab Shack? So I get home and start researching names via Go Daddy's domain Appraisal link. And because the words, "Yeah", "Yea" and "Yeh" can match up with Shell and Hell, I do some more research via Google for the match up. It turns out that the correct grammer word(s) to go with Shell are "Yes" and "Yeah" with "Yeh" being a variation of "Yeah". And since the pronunciation for the word "Yea" is actually "Yay", I eliminated it.

So it turns out ShellYes(.)com and ShellYeah(.)com are both premium domains and were taken:xf.frown:, but ShellYeh(.)com was available. I'm aware that "Yeh" is less formal than "Yes" and "Yeah", but my thinking is, since eating any kind of shell fish (oysters, clams, crabs etc) is "hands on dining".....ShellYeh:hungry:com might be a great name for Seafood Restaurant specializing in shellfish.

My point is, hand registering domains may not be the answer for some domainers, but I think it can work fine for those who put a little thought into it. Thanks

btw, ShellYeh! appraises for $893 at GD, $2,190 at Freevaluator and $4,432 at Notka domains...go figure:xf.wink:

Hand registration is a definite learning curve for domainers. It's a low barrier entry point to learn the ropes but sooner or later you need incorporate secondary market purchases to make the big sales.

This is an arbitrary number but you probably need to make 100 sales before you can properly assess whether a hand registration is a good idea.

Of course you can also critically analyse the sales being made elsewhere to craft an understanding, but nothing substitutes for personal experience.

In an ideal world the best strategy would be to not hand register domains as a beginner, but sometimes it's a growing experience to learn the hard way.

What? Over? Did somebody say the autopsy of a hang reg is over? Nothing is over until we decide it is. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Shell yeh hell no and it ain’t over now. Remember Bulloney! Give to your local car wash!

A hang reg might be worth something, but a Bulloney hand reg is worth

Oh well that's his third ban (time-out) in what 9 months, That should give him time to come-up with more new brain-storming ideas, or look at those renewal reminders start to pour-in

Well he is a trend setter, he gets banned more than anyone else around here.

I was just about to buy incredibleclams.space from him for 48 cents :xf.frown:

I don't think anybody really didn't advise you not to handreg. They advised you to read more which you did and picked up better skills and have had some success I would be giving praise to the solid advise you were offered and took on board.

I agree with you ,once in a while I go back and look at names I sold ,about 5 months ago I punched in a gaming domain I sold 3 years ago for 3.5k and my fu----- eyes popped out when it was available for reg
I snapped it up while my heart beated a thousand times a min, till it appeared in my account, so all that hand reg crap means nothing ,its like throwing a bunch of bread to seagulls in a beach theres always one bird off the beaten path with all he can eat,so the more you look the better your luck will be,also there is more supply of quality domains that are dropping than there are domainers looking for them

Legend has it if you stand in front of a mirror and say his name three times, he will suddenly appear and try to sell you a terrible domain name.

btw, ShellYub.com appraises for $893 at GD, $2,190 at Freevaluator.
ShellYis.com is even better, valued at whopping $994.
But the best of them all is shelllll.com appraised by GD for $1,259!
Gotta admit, I'll miss the daily cringe from Bulloney :xf.cry:

I'm back Alex, and hand registering domains like crazy. Besides regging a bunch of Canna domains today despite my many critics, I just hand reg'd; SnoozeRx(.)com. I'm sure the name sucks, but a rookie has to do what a rookie has to do. Wordplay is the game, and Bulloney is the name:xf.grin:
