Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

Well.... was considering letting these drop but decided to renew for another year. I didn’t even have them parked....so just quickly stuck ‘em on SEDO a few moments ago.

To be honest... I kind of forgot about them.... I have many more than just these...but these were coming up for renewal...I will have to do a little bit of advertising and see if I can sell them now. What you guys think? Do you agree with me paying the renewals for another year? Or should I have let any/some or all of them drop?

Conversely... if you have an idea about a possible end-user feel free to PM me. Cheers!

Any of you folks ever have your domains listed on GD auctions without you doing it? I noticed several of mine listed for buy now $8999. GD is where my names are registered.
Are your domains listed on Afternic? because when you list a domain there it will automatically be listed on GD with the BIN you've set.

It should be interesting to see what affect Ready Player One will have on the industry. If it will encourage people to get out there and try VR for themselves (who hadn't already). I haven't seen the movie yet, but I imagine a few million will - so it should give VR a good boost. It's amazing, I still talk to people who don't even know what VR is, so hopefully this movie will change that. Even if the movie sucks, the fact it makes people aware of VR is a good thing.

It’s not a Classic, but it’s Classic Spielberg which always has mass appeal and historically Movies of a similar ilk like E.T, Star Wars etc have a strong associated merchandise industry, and that can only be a good thing for VR.

But times have changed since I was a nipper and maybe the Movie/Merchandise formulae isn’t as potent nowadays. It’ll be an interesting 12 months that’s for sure.

No they aren't listed on Afternic. I've never listed them for sale any where. Maybe a past owner did? Thanks

I posted this review/article from someone in VR. Doesn't give it away, but his thoughts on the movie and VR. I haven't seen the movie yet.

Thanks all for your input!

Well.... I renewed them all.... I was quite surprised to hear that none of you recommended renewing the 4l.com‘s and nets. VR or not.... random 4L.coms are going anywhere between $100 and $500..

Also, I think the dot Org’s I listed are pretty sweet so definitely wanted to keep them.

The “place name” .com’s I thought we’re definite keepers.... but our forum guru @alcy didn’t recommend them either... Domaining is SO subjective!! It will be interesting to see if I just pitched a couple “hundo” out the window or if I’m able to recoup and turn a profit. ;)

Thanks to all those who gave an opinion!

you do realize when you have a number in your domain then it is no longer a 4L.com right?

;)

this is why no one told you to renew them.. it was not a coincidence that everyone somehow missed 4L.com domains.. as far as I know those L+N combos in 4L have no value.. and are tough sales..

I am not a guru btw. just a guy who spent a lot of time reading and studying VR domains.. which means what I may know about them is achievable and avaible to all who put in the time :)

cheers mate

Hi Alcy

Yes, I do know that....In my list I only had one 4L. (Net) and the others were 4c.’s. I had meant to write C in my second post there but messed up and put an L instead. Thanks for catching that. I’m glad you are also aware of the difference. FYI... if there are numbers you can use the letter N, and if it is a mix, you can use the letter C for descriptive reference. Just want to make sure you are aware. ;)

No need to be modest @alcy!! You have made many sales and certainly have passed on a lot of knowledge to many people in this forum. We all really appreciate your opinion here! I have only been in the business for a little over a decade so I have lots to learn! I have certainly learned from some of your posts and have obtained advice from you which has been appreciated. I’m lucky that I also have Kevin Ham (see link)(http://money.cnn.com/magazines/business2/business2_archive/2007/06/01/100050989/) to speak with and have gained advice from through the years.... he is probably one of the most humble and down-to-earth people I have ever spoken with.... so between the two of you, I feel I am in a good position to gain sound advice!

Thanks Alcy!

Cheers!

PS. LLNL are not worthless! The value’s I posted in my earlier post pertained to this genre. So, If you have any 4C domains in the.com, .net or even .org.... you may not want to drop ‘em without first trying to sell them

Cheers!!

Hey NPR's, I just received an offer through GD Auctions of $400 for- VirtualRealityHomeTour.com
It's currently on an "offer/ counter offer" setup- And $400 was the opening price. So while it's obviously tempting to accept an upfront offer, and do a smooth GD push- I have a couple concerns/ questions before I do.

Firstly, I've been saving and renewing this domain for a while now, because I've been in long talks with an apparant Realtor, who'd like to develop this domain into an actual functioning VR website (which if true, props to him)! But the price range we were talking about is around $1600-$1800!
But we've now been going back and forth since around Xmas/ New years! And although he's still showing interest, we haven't really moved forward, and he says that he's waiting for his "IT guy to sort it out" So i'm honestly not sure how serious he actually is?
(Although, I did notice that the Plural of my domain is also registered at GD and already has content, it's just 'temporarily unavailable' at the moment)? So perhaps it's waiting to be linked? (A long shot, I know)!

But I'd really appreciate some input/ advice on this issue here. Because I'm tempted to just counter offer the $400 GD bid. But then what would my counter offer guideline be? The $1600- $1800 end user price range that's already on the table?
I've since told the 'realtor' that another party is interested, and he has asked me to hang on to it for him? (I guess i could raise the price/ or ask for a deposit)? Otherwise, if I counter offer on GD with, say, $1400? (Or whatever amount is recommended on here) And it's accepted, then It'd be an instant transaction and transfer. And for the sake of a few $100, it could save me a lot of time, stress and the possibility of a lost sale- if the Realtor's offer falls through? And then the GD Bid runs out? (Because I think I have to reply within a week)?

Sorry for the long post- But I really would appreciate any advice on this.
Cheers!

Personally, I would let the realtor know that you’re in negotiations with another party. I would not tell the realtor any values but I would tell them that there is an offer on the table that you’re considering....but that you are conflicted because of your long-standing negotiations. I would then tell the realtor that as an act of good faith you’re willing to deal with him/her.... but they will have to make a fair and solid offer within the next 48 hours or you will be accepting the other party’s offer

Thanks mate!! I didn't know that. So even if he rejects my counter offer- his initial $400 offer is still binding? If so, I think I'll do that while I await a reply from the realtor.

yes everyting there binding 7 days
so it works both ways.. if you make offer of 700 now.. and then want more.. he can still take your 700 too. for 7 days

4 Months is a long time for this guy to be-what seems like- stringing you along. I would tell him I can not hold onto the name for you per se but I can give you 6 days to make a decision as to how you wish to proceed because I have 7 days on my end before I need to engage this latest offer on the platform. That is the best I can do for you. (Now this is just my 2 cents without knowing how the conversation has gone between you 2) $1,500 counter is reasonable.
good luck

btw I'm a big believer in trying to close a deal as quickly as possible. It's nice to be cordial but there also needs to be a focused directive as a reminder that this is business.

Added AtlantaVR today from expired list. Had originally been registered in 1996, I was surprised to see it was available. Lots of possibilities... 😁
