While recovering from the past weekend of scattered deals and in anticipation of the next SuperSale, I am weary of having several threads related to the SuperSales at Domain - MyDomain - NetFirms - Dotster.

Since the promos often work at more than one reseller, I would love to have a single thread to watch and participate in, if you agree, hang out here and watch this thread!

The usernamex Guide to SuperSales

SuperSales are promotions done by the family of registrars under Domain.com, including MyDomain.com NetFirms.com Dotster.com

About every 10 days to two weeks, one or more of these registrars runs what I like to call SuperSales - with dot COM / NET domain registrations for bargain prices, $1.99 - $2.99 - $3.99. Sometimes the specials are good for multi-year registrations, sometimes only the first year is discounted.

The super fun part is they let you use coupons ON TOP of the promo, so there have been specials as low as $1.39, $1.59 is more common, and $1.99 is still great any time!

If you are new, the best choice is usually MyDomain, since their renewals are second best (to Domain) and I have not seen the $1.99 special ever offered at Domain direct

A great way to get an account set up is NOT during the frenzy of the SuperSales, and a trick you can use without having to contact support is to buy the easiest to type/remember cheapest domain you can, like whatever ngTLD is on sale for $1.99, that will be your username. You can drop the domain after a year and your account will be fine. Otherwise get on chat and they can set you up ahead of time without having to make a purchase.

To make it easy for everyone, if you can BOLD any coupon codes, that would be super, and if you tested coupons successfully, please mention the reseller where you tested.

Ah.. Anyway, I just found out from chat support that they charge 18% GST for my country. So effective price goes to nearly $7.74 (or something to that effect) which makes it less attractive for me... Especially with all the trouble. I'll just stick it to Epik or NS

Has anyone waited it out and had a transfer actually be allowed after they unsuspended the account? Doing a test right now to see how long it takes. So far they did not pre auth my cc which is usually instant

How absurd. I also got this "payment must be verified" "...security reasons" blah blah blah, meanwhile I risk losing my domains because I have a mere two days to get this transfer started. Yeah, thanks Domain.com!

Their cpanel is garbage and full of bugs. Getting to the point where any potential savings are really not worth the major hassles.

Called to get unsuspended, they could not verify my last 4 of cc and said there was no security question on file. After insisting there is a security question she found it and verified. Immediately checked my cc and my info WAS correct after all. : roll eyes :

Restarted transfer while keeping support on phone to be sure it went through, then they gave me "Auth Code Invalid" error, which of course it was not. Was a personal use dot US - spent 40 minutes on the phone with them not being able to get it to work, even after me GIVING the auth code to support. They kept insisting it was wrong. They offered to do it manually with escalated support by ticket for full price, no coupon could apply.

After finally hanging up on them, the domain successfully transferred with that EXACT supposedly incorrect Auth Code from PDR to PDR in less than two minutes (Reseller Club to Alp)

The initial reason for suspension they gave me was "Transaction Declined" and this is exact cc used at Netfirms successfully for a renewal today also.

The only good deal was renewal on dot BZ (Belize) for $12.71 - regular price at NetFirms ONLY is $16.95 reg renew transfer, the average prices elsewhere are ~$19.50 and up.

Short while later,

Unfortunately, it looks like my relationship with Domain.com & Co. is coming to an end. But I'm just a number and probably they don't care.

Their entire interface is atrocious, and time wasted on workarounds is dumb. Same with time spent on the phone or chat trying to get unsuspended for no valid reason. Refreshing accounts? What nonsense. Bye, Felicia!

Oh, and deleting domains that remain years after they've been transferred away. Total crock! Time is money, people!!

They are best known for their $1.99 deals. We all have opened account with them for that one reason. With that deal gone for long and nothing seems to be in the horizon, I don't feel they worth mentioning anymore in namepros. Time to say Goodbye and RIP Domain Farm

I still got that. So I decided to bite the bullet and phone support, expecting a tedious exchange. But I was delightfully surprised that my situation was resolved relatively quickly and with almost no hold time.

I do have to transfer the names individually, which is a bit of a drag, however today with the 25% savings it is worth the extra bit of work IMO.

Best of luck to the rest of you! Oh... keep in mind, if you do transfer and during checkout you get the error "domain is already in use", you should go directly to your DomainCentral cpanel and press f5 on your keyboard to refresh the DCentral, and you should then be good to go. (At that point, go to the domain you want to transfer WITHIN your DomainCentral cpanel, click "More Info" and re-enter your Auth Code.)
