A lot of domain investors also invest in crypto currency it seems as of late. I usually feel pretty confident that a domain I carefully acquire today will be a 10x+ my investment including holding time. If say, I were to buy bitcoin today, is it feasible that i would get 10x my money?

@Richard Blair you left over fifty thousand dollars on the table so far.

@SirDrago what I'm talking about is that you sold way too soon.
I don't think you should never second guess yourself when selling, he did the right thing for his family, or whatever his expectations were, they were met.

The supply given a world wide media is not on par, I had my HVAC repair guy talking about it today, people are curious, and what is going on in the middle east only helps it.

Bitcoin was designed as a chaos coin so to speak.

In these kind of situations, worst case scenario if you feel the itch sell half, and hold the rest, it's an amazing time to have skin in the game. Based on the float, and given the attention it doesn't take much to move things when we are going across a worldwide spectrum.

It can be worlds war between big countries

Every country tries to buy as much as they can. Everyone think they can control the future of world economy through bitcoins

It's a big world, and there are people who we don't even know who have just way to much money they don't know what to do with. Just another avenue, but one that is currently being vetted.

You've got the wrong exchange...it is still at over $19,000. in some exchanges, average is $16K now.

Here is an article explaining it:
https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-soars-prices-diverge-wildly-across-exchanges/

As far as not knowing the future:
I expect btc to go up over all over time long term including from here but there will be intermediate ups and down. I had a vision that it would reach 11,500 then drop back to 9500 and eventually go to 13,000. We shall see. I am not selling, been accumulating and holding since 2013, and I will accumulate more btc even at these levels.

I predicted that, and it is exactly what happened.

It doesn't take a genius to know where this is headed over all. UP.

I just Made my 1st small purchase of BTC & XRP :) very excited had been waiting to get in on before the year ended. I was wondering about the different Exchange prices as well

I use BitStamp as of right now and BTC is hovering around 15k , while others show 16k.

Now if I could just sale a damn domain lol , I'd love to put the money into crypto

Thanks xyznames ! Same too you, I'm in for the long hule...just wish I could have started with more in it, but Im just happy having a small piece of the pie over none! ..So I'm thankful.

It will be interesting to see what happens with xrp once more people realize the TechCrunh founder created a Hedge Fund based strictly of Ripple/xrp and how that takes off....he also said he now has 10% of his Net Worth in Crypto , see what happens

As far as fluctuations, selling at the top, etc.

It's like with most stocks. You sell at a certain price, it drops below that price, and you think...GOOD! I did the right thing. Next thing you know it's way above your price and you realize that the market makers simply grabbed your shares cheap and they're laughing at you on the streets.

I've been stock trading for so long that I eventually learned with stocks to just buy and hold, or at most, position trade over the course of days, or weeks. I no longer panic or worry about intraday fluctuations.

With BTC I have been in for the long haul since 2013, with regular, consistent accumulations ever since, and have no reason to sell yet.

2013 wish I had gotten in that early, don't we all, there should be a badge button for that haha, that's awsome good for you.

I'll be honest if it wasn't for domaining, I would be way behind the crypto curve of the general public. Domaining has taught me a lot, though I haven't sold one yet, and have turned down a few small offers I know I will soon and the first nice sale I get I'm putting half of the profit into crypto .I've learned a lot in the past year, (like wishing I didn't reg' half of what I did early on lol)...and I owe it all to this forum.

Best thing I did this year was become a member of NamePros, it's a Pool of Knowledge.

Actually that comment of yours indicates that you’re not holding any BTC. Why would you be gleeful that it dropped temporarily, which it didn’t drop that low anyway. Enjoy the ride! is directed at me...meaning too that...you’re not on board?

Let's make a bet then, I say I do have BTC, you say I don't. 1 BTC min, fair?

Not buying it, sorry. Doesn’t matter to me whether you’re holding btc or not but your posts belie the notion.

BTC could drop 40% and STILL be higher than it was 1 year ago !

Anyway a 24 hour close of $17k will be very bullish for btc today.

Ah OK, so you do you even have a whole BTC to bet with, is that the problem?

Your posts, including your silly bet, contradict that you’re still holding. You can say whatever now but all we have on the internet to consider are our words and yours don’t jibe.

Can you explain why you’d be happy that btc dropped if you’re still holding? Or why you’d want it to drop to 2k (your prior post) if you’re still holding?

Bro, why's it silly? You wanna try misrepresent me in public let's do it! It's a public ledger, do you know nothing about bitcoin? Simple to prove to, I'll move a small amount from my address to yours. I will show my balance, then you pay me for losing the bet .. Are you gonna man up or apologize? Huh?

That’s nonsense. When I receive btc it doesn’t show me what the sender has in his wallet. Have you ever even done this?

When I receive btc I create a special wallet / request for that transaction. All I see is that it’s been received. A bit later it’s confirmed. That’s it.

It rather makes sense that you’d be having this silly bet conversation with yourself, but please go ahead and answer the questions first of why on earth anyone holding would want it to drop to 2k.

Or why you thought that upon receipt of btc that you’d magically and instantly know how many coins the sender has.

Ok, so you are small fish. No problem and nothing wrong with that. I'll answer your question after an apology for calling my integrity in to doubt.

and I stand by it. It’s not an insult it’s a question along with the other question about why you thought that the entire wallet contents would be revealed every time someone sends btc.
