Augmented Reality (AR) domains

Last night I ignored the urge to register SpaceShipThree.com , and today the .com .net .org and .whatnot is all taken.

Today I decided to redeem myself and find another good dn investment. After a bit of investigation I discovered the huge potential of Augmented Reality: Google Trends: augmented reality . The estimated AR market size in 2014 is $732,000,000 , especially in AR marketing.

I think adverts and billboards shown as augmented reality on mobiles will become simply huge, and so I decided to get a piece of the pie, all new .com registrations:

ar+
advert
adverts
billboard
billboards
registrar

There are still a lot of possibilities available, so I thought I'd share this so you can also get a piece of the action :santa:

Also just added in (.com):

arcontests (speaks for itself)

and

arearphones

I notice people are talking about augmented reality earphones for example:

"GRit Augmented Reality Earphones" [http://gearmoose.com/grit-augmented-reality-earphones/]

"Going for a walk or a jog in the park while jamming out to your newest playlist on the iPod can be relaxing and refreshing—yet dangerous at the same time. Your headphones, which block out the sounds from the rest of the world, leave you vulnerable to predators sneaking up on you or vicious dogs who may feel you’ve invaded their territory. You’ll never hear them coming unless you’re wearing the GRiT Augmented Reality Earphones by GRitworks. They keep you safe and connected to the world outside of your earphones by utilizing built-in AMBi Technology."

Decided to list ARGadgets.com for sale at Flippa with $1 starting bid and no reserve. I have some bills to pay, otherwise I wouldn't have done that at this stage of the AR revolution.

I'm thinking FijiAR. Has a better ring to it.

‘Air Hogs Connect: AR Mission Drone’

I have fond memories of playing Desert Strike from Electronic Arts on my Sega Genesis (also released on a billion other platforms) growing up. The game was fascinating to me because unlike similar sidescrolling or top-down scrolling shooters, such as the classic arcade game 1942 for example, Desert Strike actually had large levels for you to fly around and explore. The background wasn’t just scrolling on a loop with enemies randomly popping up. This felt like a revelation in game design at the time.

While I caution myself not to make such lofty comparisons for a drone-based AR game like Air Hogs Connect: AR Mission Drone, that’s the feeling it brought back for me. Except this time instead of flying across vast lands on my Sega Genesis, a digital world of limitless potential was being displayed on top of my actual living room through the use of augmented reality.

I've been a busy bee snapping up AR names. It's a different game to VR imo, the brandables will sell and they are always far less predictable as you can see from sales being posted on the VR thread.

Still some nice handregs available.

Identity+(AR)
Identify+(AR)
More+(AR) - Closeout grab.

All in king.

More and more I'm starting to agree with Tim Cook on AR, my hunch is AR will be the tech that gets wider mainstream adoption. VR will have it's place but because of the nature of the tech - headsets, space restrictions, wires and price point etc I think it will appeal more to niche markets, whereas I can envisage AR being everywhere in our daily lives in the not so distant future.

PokemonGo has helped solidify the term AR imho so that's where I'm placing most my bets.

Happy Hunting.

I totally agree that AR will be huge and brandable AR names will be in demand, those are some nice domains.

The issues of wires, prices and headset size with VR will soon go away though as the tech improves. Many of these problems are already being overcome.

Absolutely but in the mean time it will hinder market penetration. VR will be huge too, just not as mainstream imho. This article sums up my thoughts well.

There's no doubt that AR will be bigger than VR. The question is, will the use AR for their products? VR can be bigger in domains.

This is the gamble and bets will need to be hedged, the same applies to vr to a lesser extent. VR, V, Virtual or purely brandable names?

If Apple start hammering home "AR" following from Pokemon Go, the term will become ingrained imho.

My hunch is that domains with kws relating to visuals/optics/gestures will do very well with AR.

The biggest potential enemy of VR domains in the distant future is market consolidation. Like I said, AR is a different ball game.

So I finally decided to enter the AR market. I'm happy with where my VR portfolio is at and looking to do the same in AR. Will be looking to buy premiums and get some buys and (hopefully) sales into Namebio! AR needs more recorded sales for sure. I think the ARGlasses.com sale was a good start and the buyer got a great deal! I made a sizable purchase yesterday and will post the name when in my account.

I look forward to being an active participant in this niche community with all of you.

What are some good AR dedicated news outlets I should subscribe to? Twitter handles to follow? FB etc. Thanks

I'm wondering if as technology evolves and manufactures bring out glasses capable of vr, ar and mr all in one, they may simply be labelled as smartglasses, as it appears they are in this article.

I think with AR poised to being very enterprise driven and mobile- the AR label works as a marketing reinforcer that we are not VR. I think that will be an important market differentiation. Besides, all AR glasses are smart glasses but not all smart glasses are AR glasses. That's my thinking at least.

Yes I agree, AR is a specifc type of content that I am sure end users wil eventually be searching for.

Smart Glasses is going to be a great future search term, but it is too general to take into account search preferences that these future tech's will inevitably bring.

JMO though.

Yeah I've no doubt the tech and software will continue to be referred to as AR, VR etc. I'm just wondering if the hardware will eventually simply be referred to as smartglasses.

Just me thinking out loud :xf.smile:

AR sure is a different beast from VR. Not all keywords are interchangeable. AR is a bit more challenging because since AR is tethered to the real world, you can't just take any keyword and slap AR on it like you almost can with VR.

Agree. I just started snapping. I think for now VR domains will sell because they have "sex appeal" and years of word usage/marketing ahead of AR.... but Apple is a trend setting cult like no other company. It's very difficult to not take the words of Tim Cook seriously and disregard the potential of AR to become the behemoth it's predicted to be.
