Augmented Reality (AR) domains

Last night I ignored the urge to register SpaceShipThree.com , and today the .com .net .org and .whatnot is all taken.

Today I decided to redeem myself and find another good dn investment. After a bit of investigation I discovered the huge potential of Augmented Reality: Google Trends: augmented reality . The estimated AR market size in 2014 is $732,000,000 , especially in AR marketing.

I think adverts and billboards shown as augmented reality on mobiles will become simply huge, and so I decided to get a piece of the pie, all new .com registrations:

ar+
advert
adverts
billboard
billboards
registrar

There are still a lot of possibilities available, so I thought I'd share this so you can also get a piece of the action :santa:

Looks like ARGlasses closed at $7,600 today. Congrats to both buyer and seller.

Yes to be fair considering how new the tech is I feel that is a fair price at the stage we are at.

Will expect the price to rise considerably but wen't for more than I expected it to.

This is great news, It has only put more value on quality AR domain names. We can use this as a bar on what to expect, i have ARHardware.com so hopefully this has gained a bit of value thanks to the sale.

ARNerd/com :bookworm:

ARNerds/com :bookworm::bookworm::bookworm:

...Surely the bearer of the glasses deserves some recognition too? :angelic::-P

Not sure if arglasses.com was the biggie we all have been hoping for.

All big companies use whatever name they want to use.... i.e Spectacles ( snapchat ) , HoloLens ( microsoft ) etc etc......would these big companies owning arGlasses.com do them any favours or increase sales? I think not, it will probably be a startup wanting the domain in my opinion with a low budget. SmartGlasses is the biggie in this area and can cover a bigger area other than AR can. I did put a bid in for arGlasses but lost interest around the $500 mark. Every company comes up with their own name for a product, unless the term "arglasses" is getting around 75,000 (plus) exact searches a month than I would aim for brandable AR domains. Good luck to the buyer, would love to be proved wrong on this one.

@mrcurly Agree. A bad buy @ $7,600. Like really bad. Almost stupid. Only IMO of course, and time will tell...

I don't know if it was a bad buy, only the future will we know if it was or not, but the price surprised me.

I've seen much better domains on Flippa failing to generate any interest at all, ARGlasses and GoVR all got Editors choice on Flippa though, so that's how their system works really.

Unless you get lucky and get selected for editors choice, i find an auction type listing on Flippa a complete waste of time and money.

SmartGlasses is a great name, theres no doubting that, but not all smart glasses are AR, so a bit too generic, in terms of this niche, IMO.

ARGlasses was smart money, IMO, though it did end a good bit higher than I thought it would.

Yes exactly it did go higher than I thought it would at this stage but it is a very nice name imo.

The only slight concern I would have if I had just bought this domain would be there are hints of hybrid glasses/HMD's hitting the market soon and if that happens this domain becomes even more niche'd (if that's a word lol)

Anyway a decent sale that AR domain owners can use as a reference going forwards ;)

Unless it gets around 75k exact serches or more then its no more valuable than any other AR+keyword domain that any company can register or buy for $250

AR is a fad, a big fad and like 3Dglasses, will be replaced after chasing Pokemon gets boring!

The price is indicative of emotional bidding, IMO. Either way, a great name and a great sale, as well as, a great boost for the interim of AR. Again, IMO.

Congrats to both buyer and seller.

Unlikely, but possible. Time will tell. A year from now we'll all know more.

I agree that the price was higher than expected. I noticed that alot of the bidders were New, (not that it means anything) but lets hope its legit and paid for, if so..this is great for the industry

Spot on mate, it doesn't look like an end-user sale anyway, someone has faith in AR Glasses and sees value in it.

ARGameKing.com

I know there are hardly any decent VR keyword names (single keyword) left to reg. Has it already got to the same point with AR too? I haven't tried to reg any AR names for a while.

Anyone who paid attention to the bidding knew it was unlikely to be an end user. None of these niches have really reached end user level interest, aside a few random startups, IMO.

Those of you with quality AR names hold fast, and watch for wolves in sheep's clothing. Don't fall for the continual pump and dump that often plagues these NP threads.

...gl to all.
