I think the OP is asking a fair question and I don't think any of the replies saying we are in a downmarket are in any way unreasonable. Some of the stronger views comparing it to BTC and the top/double top we saw there are open to debate, but even that can not be ruled out at this stage. The next few months will reveal much on that front and if this is just temporary.

I have my own opinion on 4l.com chips which i've mentioned before and after extensive tracking of sales for a long time I do feel many big Chinese investors left 4l chips a long time ago which is why for months there has been next to no serious volume and prices have never recovered to close to the old highs and now we're at 90+ day lows.

However, things could of course pick up any day if the big Chinese investors feel the price drop is appealing enough to re enter in a big way. It definitely could happen, but as of now there's little sign of it happening.
Investors have every right to wonder if there's something seriously wrong with the Chinese domain market and if they should cash in now for anything or be patient and wait this downmarket out. It's only natural to ask the question and see what others think. As expected, there are many differing opinions, no surprise there.

All the best!

Are you sure? LLLLSales.com shows the sale at $2075.

Actual ending price appears to be $3000 and the site has been updated to reflect that. It was double posted with an earlier price before the auction was extended.

Transition of money into the next push. If you know where the money is going to flow there is still great money to be made.

100% Correct! Right now we are seeing the transition of Chinese money into the next push!

I try to connect with as many influential Chinese investors on social media as I can. These investors have massive budgets and they never follow trends, they set them. They also have a massive following on social media and right now all the buzz is about 'Ethereum' and a few other blockchain investments. Once the price plateaus they transition money into the next...

Its important to note that these market movers are smart and do invest in good investments, but they just have such a massive following that prices tend to spike. These market movers are not still 'playing' in the LLLL.com game, sure some of their follows are! But market movers don't 'speculate', and investing in 4L chips at current prices is not an investment, it's speculation.

The bubble may be deflating in the chips, but I don't think the western premiums will follow.
I don't follow the data like some of you guys, so this is just my opinion.

There seems to be too many westerners and english speaking domainers in the markets to allow the western premiums to follow the chip market.

I think it is burst temporarily. It will always repeat I'm sure and I think there will be another bubble in 1-5 years especially with the new TLDs.

I wouldn't say a burst as some chips are still selling for their value, but there has certainly been a dip in the market lately.

Just a market correction. There will be a crash if Chinese would have stopped buying.

Currently they don't

26 LLLL.COM chips were sold 03-11 according to chaomi

That is not only a Fish & Chips; it is also an English ( and western ) quad premium so it appeals to both markets

It is panic now in China. Every domainer is getting back his money by selling domains. The different banker of 4L,5L.com/cn, 5N,6N,7N.com/cn is arguing and fighting each other. Many reasons:1). huge volume of 5L.com/7N.com with less end-users and the renewal fee is unbelievable and realized; 2). the new extention of wang(similar to net) is blooming and welcome in China, 3).the captial is losing to the marketing of stock and housing;4). the economic surrounding is so bad.

Does anyone notice that the low sales are all taking place in the .cn auction site ,a site where a few friends that have accounts there can sort of make up some BS sales ,if the prices were going to fall I would say it would happen in our markets first , I am still getting the usual spams to buy my chips and chinese that I have done business in the past are still buyers. can also be a couple of chinese people just need cash and are bailing. If this was truly a melt down ,the regular .coms would be getting hit as well.

There is also a couple low sales in flippa ,this means nothing I myself just dont even look at liquid domain auctions with reserves and I know others dont either ,which explains the always low sales ,flippa killed flippa

Yes, people are booking profits. Crash no, lower prices and soft market? Absolutely. You can watch the movement in and out if you have data.

if you want $ USD facts:

http://domainpayout.com/4lcomchips.php 4L.com CHIPS

every strong rise in price is followed by a correction in any market
that's the time to buy - not to panic

its the battle strong against shaky people

I am getting 2-3 email inquiries a day from chinese guys, which is pretty normal, so I don't think we should panic.

You know, if you want to make money, you have to buy low and sell high. However, you can't buy low if the market is stable and prices are constant... So these waves are always coming for reason, aren't they @joanlee ? :)

Inquiries are one thing, offers are another. I'd like to see how much they're offering as it'll certainly be low-balled, and what they have to say with a counter-offer of a price close to that listed on Chaomi.

Sure, and that's exactly what I am implying here.
They do all the shit just to buy low.

If they were not buying for profit, they wouldn't inquire at all.

You can still profit off of a 'crashing' market if you play your cards this way. Buyers at lower rates doesn't necessarily mean the market isn't crashing; they could be buying low and selling on the exit.

To be honest, no sale even at lower and lower price currently.

Word is the BIG investors are creating panic to collect more domains and raise the price even more next month.

They are bringing prices down to get back in at a lower price point.

One thing the Chinese are good at is following the leader.
