The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I countered at $275 and buyer cancelled negotiations. Now I made it $200 buy now, his 2nd offer and parked it to Sedo to lower the fee to 10% with no $50 minimum.

Hope it will work, getting frustrated to miss a lot of these small sales.

Find out who your rep is at Sedo and let them know you've decided you'd like to accept $200 on the name and ask if they could notify the person who made the $200 offer. The worse the rep can do is say no, but I'm pretty sure they've done that sort of thing before.

Also, are there any advantages for using a vps instead of shared for sending out mails? I mean do the mails sent from shared servers have a higher spam risk percentage than from vps, higher chances of not being read because they arrive in spam/junk?

I would like a (few) comment(s) on that, please as I did not see any information in the thread regarding.

Is somebody getting good results sending text personalized emails from shared servers or a VPS is really needed for efficient inbox results?

--------------

EDIT: Found out that google apps is the best to do this ( if somebody can confirm ) which guarantees 100% delivery.

We use google business for email but there's no such thing as guaranteed 100% delivery and anyone who claims that in email is just lieing ...

True, i was said that they deliver 100% and I just wrote that. I also believe there is no such thing but I was looking for the most efficient way and I found it.

Thanks.

Emails Going to Spam?

I own a Geo+Lawyer dot com domain name that is in a fairly large metro area and tourist attraction. Over the weekend, I sent emails to lawyers listed in the search engines under "City+Lawyer" or "City+attorney." I have gotten absolutely no response to my email...not even the nasty ones about spamming. Something is wrong. I have sent out emails in the past and have gotten no response as well.

I sent out the email using my Gmail account and my home internet connection (Comcast). Do you think my emails are going to spam? By the way, I used the contact form on the lawyer's website and the email address used in Whois.

What can I do? This is not a crappy domain name. It seems like at least one lawyer out of the 100 or so emailed would have been interested. No price was included in the email.

SN: If anyone out the with experience selling domains to lawyers or other end users would like to help me sell this one, I will pay a 30 percent commission. Please PM me for the actual domain or if you have questions. Thanks.

Sorry, I did not put that in the original posting. Yes it is a .com, in Florida, hundreds of lawyers, about 500,000 people in the metro.

Assuming your email was well composed and you included all of your contact information, full real name, mailing address, phone number etc., it sounds to me like you're not reaching a decision maker. You're reaching a secretary/assistant, or the web administrator. Be sure the email goes directly to the lawyer - not hard to find their personal emails.

The email is a masterpiece, if I must say so myself! All contact information was included. I did use the contact forms in the lawyers' websites, but I also used email addresses from Whois, and even got some from the Florida Bar. It is a .com domain name with the city plus the word lawyer. Everyone in the US has probably heard of this location in Florida, so it is not some small town or obscure place.

LinkedIn is a great resource I use every day to reach out to potential end users, great for company research and perfect for making the right pitch to the right person.

My personal experience of sending out emails to potential end users is that doing so over a weekend is not useful.

I know the first thing I do when I get into work on a Monday morning is to delete all the rubbish out of my mailbox that has accumulated over the weekend - rubbish being what appears to me rather than to the sender!

With so many emails being received, you have literally a tiny fraction of a second to attract my attention before it is deleted with no chance of actually being read.

I prefer to send emails during working hours (local time), away from the beginning and end of the week, and not during the first couple of hours of the working day.

Having said that, sometimes I will send out 50 individual emails for a name and get absolutely no response, other times I will send out 10-15 and get lots of replies.

Not every name will sell, and sometimes the time / circumstances is not right - I have sold some names that eventually sold on the second or third (or more) times of trying.

Good luck with your name.

Hello,

I am stiil trying to come to terms with what had happened to me. I got an email which appeared to be from a serious buyer and he stated his price and said. 'willing to go through sedo'

I replied him the very day he messaged me and said we can go on with the deal via sedo.

I am so shocked that since June 30, no single reply from him. I don't know if he got me reply or they went to his spam or he hasn't checked yet... And that went with 7 emails from me.

Has anyone here ever had similar experience? Any advice?

^^ happens. from seriously sounding guys.
anything can happen: woke up another day and felt remorse to commit, told about this to his wife - and got scolded for that, etc
just forget about it, not worth your time anymore.

Happens all the time jideofor. It's happened to me too many times for me to count.

I've had people offer me an amount, I accept, then I never hear back from them.... Or have had people back out and say their partner or seo guy is against buying the domain.

Just move on to the next one.

Lost a sale in Escrow for 2k too, you can't control these things. Sale isn't sale until you got the money.

Thought I might add this tool to this thread ...

When trying to find who to reach out to in a company there's lots of great services like LinkedIn etc ... often your left with only a name though ... we all know companies have 'standards' for how they structure their email addresses (First.LastName@ / FLastName@ etc etc) ... and yes we can search and try and uncover their particular formatting ...

Today I stumbled upon the meta search engine Email-Format.com and personally it's been great to simplify and speed up the process. As you would expect you type in the company domain and it's pulling back email address references it's found in it's index and giving you examples for how the personal addresses are formatted.

Anyways, hope that helps someone, I know I'm bookmarking the tool!

I have sent the offer for xxxxx.com domain to one European company,
they reply: "how much :)?"
I answer: $4000Eur,
they reply: "it is expensive for us",
I: "how much you can paid for the domain?"
They CEO reply: My bid 1500 eur
I: Ok, I agree with 1500eur
They: "This has been discussed again and we have decided that this domain is no use for us."

Now has no chance to sell the domain to them?

I would say there's a slim chance of making the sale to them. I've had this same thing happen to me for $250, they accepted, then later changed their minds using a similar excuse.

Emailed them back with a price reduction after a month or 2 and never got a reply.

If the buyer writes you back asking to buy the domain again, increase the price by 10+%

Yeah... It happened to me too. They said they will discuss it and then...

No more interested.. :(

See, a huge part of this business is based on psychology and negotiation tactics. Often times endusers are totally unexperienced and have no clue about domain names, their possible advantages and their value. And specially such endusers become suspicious if you accept to decrease your asking price by more than 60% instantly ($4000 to $1500 without any negotiation). Specially unexperienced endusers start to think that something could be wrong here or the domains real value could even be a lot less than $1500. Why would a seller do that so fast? etc. , something is wrong here ....

I will tell you something. After the CEO replied with 1500 Euro, instead of saying "i agree", i would have replied differently and would have counter offered an amount somewhere in the $2.500 range. Of course thats no guaranty that the negotiations outcome would have been different in that case, but I am pretty sure the sudden and fast acceptance (as described above) from your side was the mistake here.

Also instead of your "how much you can paid for the domain?" , i would have said: "The price is negotiable and I am ready to discuss a price that suits your budget"

Another important point: always check your english before negotiating with companies. You have many mistakes and it just doesn't look trustworthy. I also make mistakes in forums and chats, etc. since english is not my native language too, but when i write emails to companies I always double check, its simply not professional to write in broken english with lot of grammatical and other mistakes, since many scammers write like that too. You have to act and write like a PRO company, even if you are a 'Solopreneur', sitting in your pyjama at home.
Hope you don't get me wrong, just trying to be honest and help you to improve your negotiation skills and success rate.
