i thought it would be real nice to share some of the emails i receive from fellow domainers trying to sell their crappy names.

hopefully, some of you will read these and stop sending or see the mistakes they make so you won't make them too.

here is one from Andrew Brad, and if he is a member here...he's a clown! why? because he included every other email address he sent this mail to. thus one could harvest his list and spam them too.

To whom it may concern,

The premium generic aged domain FREDLOYAINSURANCE.NET is up for sale and I am emailing several parties that have registered similar domains OR use "[fredloya], [fredloya insurance], [loya insurance], [fred loya claims], [fredloya locations] etc." as keywords in their advertising campaigns. This is a 6-year old domain, with no drops since it was registered in 2006.

According to the Google Traffic Estimator the keywords ‘Fredloya Insurance’ receive over 40,500 searches every month, thus making this a high SEO premium domain worth thousands of dollars.

Right now, the asking price for FredLoyaInsurance.net is just $250, and is available on a first-come-first-served basis. Yes, you read it right, $250 ONLY.

This is a great opportunity to acquire a great domain at a throw-away price. If you have any questions don't hesitate to send me an email or call me directly at +91. 939-2774-412.

All transactions will held either via Paypal or via the secure services of Escrow.com.

Best regards,

Andrew Brad

if any of you receive such emails, feel free to post them so we can expose the spammers.

Thanks

Sully, the domain is available for reg fee...

the pitch is actually good. or at least far better than the regular domain for sale spam email...

Too funny, I didn't actually check to see if it was regged. Not a bad pitch I agree, but wrought was inaccuracies. Gives others a bad name IMO. But then again so do most of these spam emails.

Wow, not only is that a terrible .net domain name but he is completely lying. I had to check on the search results for myself out of curiosity.

And the number of search results for "lame domain" is laughable...

Honestly should always be the first policy in my book.

Sully, I actually replaced the real domain with "lame domain".

The real domain is better, but not worth the asking price.

There are times when I am happy to receive the spam... These spammers mostly send crap domains, but sometimes they do send domains nice names. Although that happens very rarely.

When they send a nice name, all I do is not reply to the email, and then wait and watch the domain drop, and get it myself. :D Sometimes it is at expiring auction, and I secure it there if I really want it.

So while it is frustrating to see all this spam, it has been helpful on several occasions.

Just wanted to say thanks to these spammers. (I won't say thanks via email )

Interesting approach.

The metrics quoted are for a top tier insurance related term, yet the actual domain is a crappy backwards version with 390 Exact searches.

Hi,

I am offering (REMOVED).com for sale for $17,990. I have a close
/ good offer on the table and am trying to see if there are other
interested parties at my asking price. I am contacting a handful of
related domain owners as you already understand the value of the
domain.

-If you look at the WHOIS Archive, you will see that this domain was
registered and owned by WELLS FARGO BANK in 1998 for over 12 years.
http://who.is/domain_archive-com/REMOVED/

-"XXXX XXXXX" has a CPC of $45+ and Google exact search of
30,000+ per month and 90,000+ for the phrase.
-Even with the reverse placement of the words in the domain, I
understand that you get a material SEO boost for a $45+ CPC Keyword.

If you are interested, please let me know by Monday March 12, 2012
11.59pm. A decision regarding the sale will be made on Tuesday.

Best Regards,
Rahul Jain

P.S. This is a one-time email. I will not contact you again about this
sale. Thank you for your time!

Gotta love this one (hint: check their name at the bottom:

Dear William F,

No more offers will be accepted once the domain name is secured and it will go to the highest offer submitted into our system. Now you still have an opportunity to ensure you are still competing to capture NAMEWITHHELD.com for future growth of your business.

This is your last chance to provide a proposal: http://jpwebs.com/9653907bosime-LCU

that seems to come from the Intrust guys. they have setup a system to use randomly selected domains from their portfolio to spam domain owners. every time i get one of those, the sender email, unsubscribe link and order link are on a different domain.

Yeah, the jpwebs folks just sent me the same thing about a domain of mine I let expire. The only thing worse than getting spammed by these guys pushing crappy domains is getting spammed by these guys when the crappy domain used to be yours.

Don't you get annoyed when domainers try to sell you their domains that look "similar" to yours, when your own domain is clearly for sale?

With the webpage on my domain sporting a "This Domain is for Sale" banner in screaming bold fonts, do i actually look like an End-User that i would buy another domainer's domain that is similar to mine?

That, or these kind of domainers don't even lookup the webpage where the domain is pointing to. They just harvest email addresses from whois, then spam them with solicitation letters.

Even worse is when you own the .com & you're being offered the .net or .org. SO annoying!

Or they send your domain only with four more dashes. Example: word--word--word.com. Not a big fan of the double double dash. Then they sign it from "Name Pros".

This week I got emails from 2 different spammers offering the same domain, that is still NOT dropped. If someone takes this domain - in good faith - after the drop, the chances that he will be able to sell it are almost zero, because people have spammed it to the entire world.

Most of those emails does actually include exact phrases taken from some well-known threads here on NP.

There is a guy here on NP that is constantly reporting his own sales, every week, any day, and any hour. The only thing that he is obtaining is to encourage those new spammers to sell crap names. A good part of those spammers are people that follow his reported sales here, thinking "hey look, it's easy!" and start offering their domains even without owning them.

This guy is also increasing the competition on auctions, because he is creating an army of new "domainers" that are bidding even against him on ANY keyword domain.

Too much sales reported by one guy.

Federer, do you really want to help someone? Select some people and give them some tips, not just reporting sales. Because in this way you are creating only problems and helping the wrong guys.

Sorry, but this is what I think.

No criticisms to you but you really should read this forum more. Federer has given a lot of insight on how he makes a sale, many many tips. It's not accurate to say he's a bad apple. In fact, he's a good contributor to the domainers here at NP.

Don't shoot the messenger. Federer is not the only source of reported sales.
It's not his fault if people don't understand what makes a domain valuable.

Anyone getting spam for domains with randomly placed hyphens in the middle of a word? Like keyw-ord.com. Makes no sense.

Yes, it's the intrust crooks as usual.

Speaking of hyphens, got offered a gem last week:

C-o--------m.com

That might not be exact but close enough. I ended up replying with 'how much?' just for the jokes - no reply :/
