It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

This article says 3 February 2011 RegistryPro announces 100,000 domains registered. There was no press release and nothing on Twitter so not sure where this announcement was. There is a big error in the monthly operator report from what I can see. I'd like this article to be correct but not sure why Hexonet have announced this before RegistryPro.

assuming you are referring to the 49K of that number that is listed under hostway. Since to date Hostway hasn't been able to transfer a .pro domain to their registrar for the 9.99 advertised on their website due to a technical glitch. I would have to certainly question that reported number.

Until then, your total.pro stats look correct at 50K+ at the current level of registrants. Unless we see some more definitive news..I see that as unchanged.

As of January 2011, the domains may be registered through 44 accredited domain registrars. In 2011, the number of registered domains surpassed 100,000.

p.s. $9.90 hexonet.net Reg/Renew/Transfer (for non-EU customers).

This article is incorrect and so is the information on Wikipedia. This looks like a link building exercise for the owner of Hexonet to me.

I'm a happy customer of HEXONET, that's all. )
And news is from monthly newsletter, all customers/resellers can confirm.

+ Wiki.

What's wrong?

OR EnCirca forever? )

The article says RegistryPro have announced they have reached 100,000 registrations and they haven't. I have analysed .pro registrations every month for the last 3 years and there is an error in the Registry Operator Report as somebody else has pointed out. As of October 2010 there were 51,000 registrations and I very much doubt that after taking 12 months to go from 40k to 50k that they have doubled the 50k to 100k in a couple of months since then Russians or no Russians.

At the beginning of the year I owned 30 to 40 Pros. Now I own 110 to 120. Would only take 500 addicts like me to make up the 50,000. But I don't know enough about collecting stats to know one way or the other.

But Pro sales seem to be picking up nicely with little effort to this point. If I can make a profit on Pros, anyone can.

How many .pro are reserved by the registry ? Not 50000 ? :-/

A hyphenated gTLD, Reverse-Mortgage.org, went for $1,950 (from DNJournal).

May be 100K (2011 Feb 3) is calculated as 2nd + 3rd level domains?

Just went to see if design.pro had gone to auction on snap yet.. it has not and noticed iraq.pro was still there.

Has iraq.pro been on the list since last year? Not a domain I was interested in so did not pay attention untill I notice its still waiting for over a year. Am I correct?

It is not just for web forwarding, could be for a future investment/flipping opportunity also.

spread the word..people just need to become more aware of the pro!
I think its catchy. Even with 50K+ registrants I'm amazed at the amount of 1 word domain opportunities left.

I do not have any, but there are indeed some great names left in the .PRO extension. Is there a better registrar for dot pro in your opinion? Also, it is my understanding .PRO requires a business license for the registration to take place. Is this still the case?

If anyone has recently (in the past six months or so) purchased their first Pro domain, would you please tell us about the registration process for first time buyers? It would be a great help to others considering making that leap!

Thanks much !!!
Charles

Yes, still needs your SELF-CERTIFIED to provide your professional license number.

Hmm,
I've clicked around but I must be overlooking something...
Where exactly in my Encirca account do I CHANGE my old business license info (license number, and address) to those of a new business? I do see where/how to edit the WHOIS-related info, 'Contacts', 'Customer Handle', etc, but none of these are biz-license data related...

Cheers,
Rob

Rob, from what I could see there is not an option. It's more a registry pro requirement, I'd contact them... Been in the same problem my self. This was solved by a new account new registration (which I was planning) then transfer my domains to new encirca acc

Yes there are, I just picked up CarHire.pro - half a million searches per month and a $6 avg cpc.

Rarely go for two word .pro but this was too good to resist. And I don't know if its a glitch or not, I'm seeing a pagerank of 6 on this domain. :o

I'm surprised no one took it, was in the deleted feed at encirca for a few days, but I'm happy they didn't. :tu:
