Hi everyone! The 3D market appears to be exploding! Record takes at the box office by movies such as Avatar and Alice in Wonderland and the announcement this week of the new 3D TV which is set to hit markets shortly have helped buoy interest in 3D multimedia platforms. Even the major American television network NBC has jumped in and will be broadcasting the NCAA Final Four basketball games in 3D!

A direct beneficiary from this renewed interest and greatly improved 3D technology is the domain business. Some of you had foresight many years ago and reg'd great names early on. Others (myself included) have only become aquainted with 3D domaining more recently, but see the huge potential this market has opened up for domainers.

Let this be the place for you to show off your 3D domain names. Ask for opinions, marketing strategies or even an appraisal or guesstimation of value. Also, feel free to post any relevant news releases/articles related to the 3D industry.

Google Acquires 3D Desktop Software Firm

Not the type of 3D that is the topic of this thread.

Companies have been trying to put 3D computer navigation over as a Windows desktop alternative since at least the mid-90's. Hollywood's depiction of computer navigation prior to the PC boom was always more similar to a video game than clicking boring folders. So the computer companies started bundling various 3D navigation systems for the wow factor - something that would more closely resemble the movies.

Who knows what Google will do with this. They buy a lot of companies and then let their projects rot.

We all know google stands behind Android phone project. You need uspto to check are you in trouble with 3dandroidphone.com?

Ok, I just found this on android.com:

Concept3d.com has a decent Alexa ranking, and a page rank 5.. Plus, both sites are really cool sites concerning 3d modeling, etc... Shows what the future is for 3d domains, and 3d in general...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There is not one person alive today that this does not apply to. I don't think anyone can say that they have not found something attractive, when everyone else can't see the attraction.
It only becomes a problem if you are out of sync with the majority most of the time. :imho:

I am 99.9% sure of which domain you are talking about since I also contacted the owner in the past and got the same price. While it is not worth $500K, it is worth a lot more than $5K as well.

Also, looks like as of 5/5/2010 BIDO.com is shutting down.

Bido is ceasing operation as of May 5, 2010. All transactions and accounts will be gracefully finalized and closed.

I wonder where all the mediocre 3D domains will be dumped now.

I am sure its worth more than 5k, that would have been my opening bid, maybe streched to 15k at a push. But there is no real bargaining to be done when the buyer expects a half mil payout lol

Was also reading about Samsungs new 3DTV that allows conversions of normal 2d into 3D which will help kick start 3d with limited content.

I was a little surprised to see 3DForums.org available.
I regged it. I also picked up 3DRhythm.com .

I'm waiting for the domain world to come up with a trading instrument so I can actively short 3d domains.

I agree that a good number of names being regged are
less than applicable to "3D". But I think "that" is
what speculations is. Perhaps in varied degrees of
education or calculation but still speculation.
