Spaceship Spaceship
Before we get into this week's Top Topics, we have a probable domain sale to report. Last year, online lender Vouch Financial closed down just three years after its creation. Although the business didn't succeed, the company had a valuable asset in Vouch.com, which looks to have been sold a few months ago.

According to DomainIQ, Vouch.com moved under privacy protection in November 2016, and has recently changed its name servers. Vouch.com is now being used by a tutoring network that previously used the domain name VouchTutors.com. NamePros has asked both buyer and seller for details on the probable sale, but our requests haven't been answered.

Here's this week's Top Topics.

Are Sedo’s Landing Pages Effective for Domain Sales?

In August 2016, we announced the news that Sedo unveiled a brand new marketplace design. The news prompted a huge reaction from the community, and the article has become our most talked about blog post to date. Although Sedo’s website underwent an overhaul, the company’s landing pages were not redesigned. A domain name’s landing page display adverts as well as information on whether that domain is for sale.

Are these landing pages still effective for domain investors to use? Is the combination of adverts and a “for sale” notice still relevant today, or should Sedo offer an alternative? Have your say and cast your vote here.

My Second Year Has Come to an End

In March 2016, domain investor Dominic Belley published a detailed analysis of his first year as a domain name investor, documenting what did and didn’t work for him. This week, Dominic has posted another article describing his second full year as a domain investor.

By his own admission, his second year wasn’t as successful as his first. Dominic’s article is extremely honest and it profiles his highs and lows from the past year very well. Best of luck with your third year, Dominic.

Why Are Pronounceable Five-Letter .COM’s So Cheap?

Since early 2015, four-letter .COM’s have been popular among domain investors thanks to the rapidly rising prices that saw Chinese premium four-letter .COM’s move from selling for a couple of hundred dollars to over $2,500 each at their peak. In this discussion, investor @newviewit asks why four-letter .COM’s are priced higher than pronounceable five-letter .COM’s.

The argument is that there are some types of five-letter .COM domain names that are comparatively rare in relation to four-letter .COM’s. Should pronounceable five-letter .COM’s achieve a wholesale price that is on par with some four-letter .COM’s?

Domain Hangman: Guess the Domain, Win the Domain

NamePros’ original creator, @RJ, has launched an inventive competition this week. Based around the popular hangman guessing game, domainers take it in turns to guess a letter within the domain name, slowly revealing the name in full. Once an investor correctly guesses the domain, the name is their property.

It’s a creative game that may just result in a free domain name. The first two domains to be guessed in this feature were WeedGoneWild.com and PokerRat.com.

Thanks James for the story. Coincidently, I have the .co version of the "vouch" domain hand registered back in 2010 :)
