sales Breaking: SX.com Sells For A Record Amount on NameJet

Spaceship Spaceship
The domain name SX.com has just been sold for a record amount of $555,050 on NameJet, after reaching its reserve price earlier today.

SX.com - which is owned under privacy - had 282 active bidders, with 13 participating in the auction after the $400,000 mark. There was quite a sharp increase in activity between 6th July and 7th July when the auction price rose from $40,000 to $400,000.

The auction was won by NameJet user "first" after a bidding war with user "boothcom" (presumably Andy Booth, the British domain investor). Regular NameJet users will no doubt be aware of his prolific bidding activity in the past year, winning hundreds of high value auctions for short and numerical domain names

The only other publicly released two-letter domain name sale this year was nl.com that was sold for $575,000 at Heritage Auctions. The domain name We.com was sold by Sedo recently, and although the sales price was never revealed, we're told that the brokerage costs were almost $1m.

Last year, there were 7 publicly released two-letter domain name sales, with an average price of $868,027.

Congratulations to NameJet on a record breaking sale, beating their previous record by some way. According to NameBio.com, the domain NYE.com was NameJet's previous highest sale at $175,500 in 2012.

The auction has just finished at the time of publishing, so the deal is yet to be closed. I'll update this page with a comment below once the transaction has been completed, but considering the auction's winner, I'm confident the transaction will close fairly soon.

Update: Has SX.com Already Been Flipped for $1.13mm?

The guy with "first" alias got it. He's a Chinese guy. This guy must be loaded. He's bought like 100k numeric domains.

@zizou10 - I'd be very surprised if it was just one person.

Its not a person, "first" mostly some office like account with very deep pockets.

Definetly not a person, it could be an domain investment company

hopefully this buy will drain 'first' a little and he will bid less on LLLL.com's :)
