What registrars provide free WHOIS privacy?

I've typically used GoDaddy, but find their WHOIS privacy policy really obnoxious: they essentially give it to you free for the first year, and then charge you $20 / yr thereafter (and really annoyingly make you 'cancel' via the DomainsByProxy interface or else it will auto-renew your privacy when you renew the DN).

Are there a lot of registrars offer TRULY free privacy (aka won't extort you in future years)...i saw internetbs.net mentioned in a dif thread...any others?

I can personally recommend NameSilo, I have about 75% of my domains with them at the moment.

They're a good service. No nonsense, no upselling. You pay a flat price for registrations and renewals and there's no 'free the first year' bait and switch.

Personally, I use both Namecheap and NameSilo. I just started registering domain names through NameSilo and I really do like how simple it is and how their prices are clear.

Namecheap offers Whois Privacy for the 1st year of registration for free.

NameSilo offers Whois Privacy for free for as long as you are a NameSilo customer. :)

I recommend Name.com , you just need to use their coupon code "PRIVACYPLEASE" when registering a domain name.
I use that too.
I wonder if that coupon works too on the 2nd year :)

If Name.com goes to reliably offering free privacy, I may consider migrating a bit more heavily to them.
At this point, I'm split between Fabulous, Godaddy and just started migrating a few to Name.com as my 3rd stringers however events at Godaddy are leading me to consider consolidating a bit further. Privacy so far has tipped me towards Fab but if Name offered free privacy, that would be a majorly strong play.

Privacy at Name.com is dependent on them retaining the coupon over multiple years. Which they could withdraw at any time (and piss a lot of customers off).

I moved many of my godaddy domains to name.com with their huge anti-godaddy marketing drive... then they were caught with their pants down... they are better than godaddy IMO but are rather amateurish at times.

The free (with coupon) whois privacy is a sweetener.

I've started to move my names to name silo, and so far I'm impressed. They charge a few cents more than my current registrar, but they offer better account security, and they offer free privacy. They have also got a sales listing service, and I plan to try that soon. Especially as they can pay me in Bitcoin.

I'll recommend namesilo.com .You can purchase .com domains around $7.99 if you use their $1 off promotional coupon code "ONEDOLLARLESS" . They offer free WHOIS privacy for lifetime, allows sub accounts, domain push, free DNS management, extra layer of security and more, other registrars like godaddy or namecheap charges extra money for that. They even supports wilddns records, most registrars charge extra money for it or doesn't offer but namesilo offers it for free.
BE VERY WEARY of namesilo.com THEY JUST SOLD MY DOMAIN with OUT WARNING Or Emails GONE NEVER USE THEM UNless you want to loose your domain name iI SPENT $1500 to buy this domain name as it was rare. so my ADVICE DO NOT use them

coversine.com?
You must have something to do with them since your only post so far is promoting them.
I do not see them as cheaper than godaddy at all!

Namecheap offers whois privacy for the first year only.
I really know of no registrar that offers free whois privacy for more than one year.
Mate i agree with you they are a rip off on price defiantly a sales rep for them
