zong.mobi. I had a plan to develop for www.sametopic.com/mobi/zong/ before. however, sb. offers $X,XXX since I parked it on Sedo.com recently.

Should I receive this offer or hold this domain for my own website ? right now I don't think lower $X,XXX is enough for zong.mobi, maybe I should reject this offer ?

I know there are some websites named Zong such as zong.com, zong.co.il... and Zong is a popular Chinese Character and a family name ....

Could sb. give any suggestions ?

Thanks!

(Finally, sorry, I have started the public auction : http://www.sedo.com/auction/auction_detail.php?language=us&auction_id=8233&tracked=&partnerid=)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Does it make a difference to finish the auction now? The buyer made a bid ( not as high as the seller desired, but fair) and an auction was finally set with the reserve met...which means that if there are no more bids, the guy who made the offer has the obligation to pay for it....
I don't see the problem here since they negotiated until a reasonable offer was made (apparently not a perfect one for him in his case since he planned on developing it) and the buyer said it was his final offer ,so now, he has sent it to auction with the guarantee of a sale and hoping the get his "dream price"...there's nothing wrong there and I don't think the buyer must be surprised or angry at this point...
The buyer highered his offer and the seller, in the end, is risking to accept less than what he was initially plannig to, (despite the current .mobi market condition)...I don't see any unfair business here...he's negotiating a property, not a product...otherwise sending the name to auction wouldn't even be a possibility on SEDO at this point...
It WOULD be unfair business if the first offer was made out of Sedo, and he asked the buyer to bring it to Sedo without any warnings about sending it to auction...

Cheers!

Yes, you just watching.

4 days vacation.... And I intentionally don't wanna lost my zong.mobi so early.

I just wanna tell you: zong.mobi is right what they want. $3500 is so cheap for the buyer.

Just watch if you still watching.

So Sedo has the money now or no? I think that was the question that we were searching for.

Hi Tony_np,

Would you help clear things up for me. I can see the auction has completed and I'm wondering if the transaction is commencing or did the buyer back out?

Any information is appreciated.

Take the money and run.

Unfortunately, I don't think you will ever see it. :|

My suspicions may prove correct.

You know that as soon as these threads start with "Ive gotten a [insert unrealisticly high figure here] offer for my [insert mediocre name here]" it always ends with "I'm hanging out for a [*higher offer / better auction sale]"... Why is that i wonder... :/

*delete as appropriate

Incidentally, I notice that sportsbook.mobi is not "coming soon" anymore and is now parked at sedo.. Going on current sedo PPC rates I guess the buyers $120,000 investment should recoup itself in about 200 years. :)

Never a dull moment in domaining...

I noticed that, as well Chuck ... from .MOBI Whois on Last Updated On:25-Mar-2007 21:53:50, Registrant Organization:Domains by Proxy, Inc. - >> and now parked at Sedo!

And, Flowers.mobi still not doing its part ... to add to the "ecosystem" either IMHO. :gl:

Zong.com is also for sale on Afternic. It received 1 offer. Here are the details:

Amount Username Status Expires Bid Time
1,200.00 friendlydrops Expired 01/09/2007 04:20 am EST 01/02/2007 04:20 am EST

Here is the Afternic Appraisal
Click here to go to our site.

Domain Name Appraisal Summary
Domain Name: zong.com
CMV: $ 2,000.00
PMV: $ 9,470.00
Date Completed: Tue Apr 18 11:07:45 2006

The following is your domain name appraisal for the domain name,
zong.com completed on Tue Apr 18 11:07:45 2006.

Your domain name has been appraised based on its performance in four categories; Commercial Development Potential, Recognition, Length and Extension Value (click on any of these categories for more information).

The average mark from these categories is then compared to both recent comparable sales values and, more importantly, the particular market referenced by the domain name (e.g books, books about dogs, books about cocker spaniels, etc.).

ALL VALUES STATED ARE IN US DOLLARS.

From this is derived the CURRENT MARKET VALUE (CMV) and the POTENTIAL MARKET VALUE (PMV) of your domain name.
The CMV is the amount which would be considered fair if neither buyer nor seller are unduly motivated.
The PMV is what you may expect if your name were to meet up with ideal market conditions (e.g. non-trademark infringing and essential for particular market) .

Binaryman, they could have forgotten to remove it from afternic no?

The virtualweb.mobi stuff was clearly fishy. However, here, looking at zong.com website, I think such an offer COULD be possible.

This is difficult to understand. How would you want to keep it if you sold it?

If he kept it after a completed valid auction, that means he stiffed the buyer. Unless of course the buyer was the man in the mirror then it wouldn't matter to him.

I don't know tony_NP, but if I look at Echovox and zong (http://www.thealarmclock.com/euro/archives/2007/02/advent_invests_75m_f.html) I believe that he would be stupid if the buyer was the man in the mirror and the offer is fairly plausible or possible (sending to auction is of course pretty weird in this case)...

Regarding, backing out from a deal, here I totally disagree with such a behavior and see a problem...and you know what we say about pigs and bulls and greed...

EDIT: Going back to zong.com, it sold for 13'000 on February 2007 according to the DN Journal

One has to wonder why all the scammers are flocking to mobi.

Anyone notice that Zong.com is a mobile services site? The offer may have been legit from them but oh what a mistake to place it in auction.

Not to say there isn't more but I think I've heard of about a half dozen questionable .mobi sales. If that's "all the scammers" in the domaining world then this is a much nicer world than I ever thought.

And how many questionable sales have we seen in the other extensions recently? I haven't witnessed anyone. Seems that if you are a scammer and you want to take advantage of people you head over to Sedo with a mobi and then start looking for a sucker. I never made mention of how many scammers there are...just that the ones operating seem to prefer mobi during this time of overhype (which is finally calming down).

Well, I don't know which one we'd count " RandomMobi.com " as ;)
(It's got the Mobi, but it's still a .com ;) )

And my MobiAss.com is still getting hits and generating decent revenue. Someone seems to think it is searches for strip bars in the Mobile area.

Who am I to complain. Keep searching!

To me the biggest scam I saw happening this year so far was the idn crap at sedo.

FÌX.com for $46,001 and its other IDN cousins, FÍSH.com, WÍNE.com, etc. Perhaps you missed it.

http://www.namepros.com/domain-name...ers-fake-domains-like.html?highlight=fish.com

All scams are bad and should be exposed and dealt with, regardless of the TLD.

Ahh...I forgot about IDN scams. Well technically that's not an extension but I agree that IDNs would be #1 for scammer attraction. I stand corrected sir.

OK cliff notes please, was this another bs sale like a lot of mobi sales I've seen posted the last few months?

I think it's a REAL sale.
The seller just asked for the transfering program of Sedo serval days before...
