The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that Verizon Communications (nyse: VZ - news - people ) is in talks with Google's (nasdaq: GOOG - news - people ) YouTube to push its short video clips to Verizon Wireless cellphones as well as to subscribers to its fiber-optic TV service. According to the article, Verizon Wireless customers would be able to watch some YouTube videos on their phones through Verizon's $15 per month "V Cast" video service.

Looks like good news for my mobi vlogging domains :)
But why didn't YouTube (Google) apply for YouTube.mobi I am wondering? :|
Some Chinese Co owns it according to the whois!

You know thats funny that Verizon is in talks with Google now , because they weren't in agreeance or collaboration with .Mobi.

From a certain standpoint I can see why they didn't decide to invest/ go along with the rest of their competitors. However IMHO if they did end up being to able to control to some degree the way alot of Verizon customers access the web (because they do have ALOT of customers) then that wouldn't be a good position for .mobi to be in.

They can just use an auto-detect to change the site for a mobile device. Although .MOBI exists it is not essential to any mobile website. However if it becomes the norm, then it will become more beneficial to companies such as YouTube to use .MOBI as oppose to their .COM which warps itself to a Mobile site.

Purhaps they saw that .COM is all they need. Let's be honest, if you have .COM... you are the top of the tree.

Honestly, I'm sure if they want the address, they can get it.
