Your thoughts of..."z" in place of "s" for plural domains???

Plural domains...

Of course all of the great domains that just add an "s" to create a plural version of your keyword are gone.

Lately, I have seen alot of domains selling with the "s"
being replaced with a "z".

Is this just a fluke, or am I noticing something that is becoming hot, acceptable, desired...etc.

Just curious on YOUR thoughts???

Thank You.

Single word domain end with s are all gone.
So, people are taking domain end with z.

I have few as well.

single words ending in z instead of s rarely produce any revenue. I think what you are seeing is people unloading them.

When it is a popular in demand short word I would value them pretty high, since they can be easily branded.

example - Carz.com

If it is something like WiffleBallz.com not so much.

I agree with bmugford, which name you use it with, makes the difference, not for value but for branding. I own 2 like this, Actorz.com and BeautifulGirlz.com, but wouldn't go out and reg any ole name just because it's available to. Also it can be noted that the 'z' is right below the 's', so those into typos might be more inclined to reg such.

I noticed this one in the Recent Sedo Sales list at DomainName News -

marketingz.com - 2009-01-20 - 2,388 USD

Not exactly a plural, but kinda backs-up your observation

(I got laptopz.org recently, so fingers crossed!)

Cheers, Jon

this makes it very brandable, I have CallGirlz.com

As fewer generic dictionary words are available these become a viable
option to the price tag of a pure generic. As well add the "brand" one
wants to adopt. But I will echo the sentiments that not all names
work with alternative prefix or suffix letters (i,e,x,z etc).

Kinda like hot sauce .... it can add spice to the dish (name) or kill the taste completely.

I hold several "i" names and sold about 8 or 9 "i" dot mobis last year
for a healtyy RIO. All hand regges.

Bratz dolls springs instantly to mind for me.

Namez with z in them might not bring in a lot of traffic, although I'm sure there are exceptionz, but to me they seem highly brandable in some cases.

Obviously it's not going to work or be applicable to all wordz but there is a brandability (is that a word..lol) factor to them if they work well with the z.

I like some and I don't like otherz.

JMHO :)

...don't think i really want to know any more about you! j/k

any word adaptation substituting "z" for "s", is screaming for development. Although, some domains may see some mild typo traffic with the close proximity of "s" and "z".
Personally, i don't particularly like the "z" domains - purely personal preference, though.

Wow,
There are many different views of the "z" out there.
Most agree, The specific word it is used on makes it more or less desirable.

There are a couple of GREAT examples here though...

Hey Namenut,
Your creativity is the kind of creativity, I look up to.
Sounds like you are creating your own path...
Very very admirable!
Good Luck to you,
and thanx for the inspiration, that we can be a little different and find success!

Wow,
I never even thought of THIS one!
These little Bratz dolls are HUGE!

Off topic...
Can you believe these dolls have a much larger display space
on the shelves of my local Wal-Mart,
then the Barbie Dolls do???!!!

Perfect example!

I have purchased some recently, and will probably hold out...
Call it wishful thinking but isn't that what we do???
lol

Thanx for everyones input soo far!

I also think they are quite brandable.
Had some moderate interest in my NervZ.com, but still waiting for the right end-user :)

I regged Racquetz.com for a Tennis site, never any interest so that may be what people are talking about one that doesn't work although for $7 figured it worth it.

Now I also regged SwimsuitModelz.com,FashionModelz.com and FemaleModelz.com, Swimsuit and Fashion have both got several offers in the high xx to mid xxx.

Now on a developed site I am changing the name because when I told people to go to Poker Threadz.com they went to Poker Threads.com

Not a fan of the z for s. However, as stated above, I've seen interest in the straight word+z.

lawyerz
carz
bookz

I too don't actually "like" z words but it's interesting which ones have sold.
I thought it was more suited to a young or "urban" market, but marketingz, cookz & chefz have all gone for $$$$.
The only one I have is gymz, though it's a .net.

I like them, they are easy to brand, and I saw couple of nice developed sites lately that ends with Z plural.

Btw I have NumberZ dot mobi, but looks like nobody is interested in that name :)

I would think twice before retaining the services of a company with a hacker-like domain name but maybe it's just me B-)

I've been getting frequent offers for...
Explorerz.com - getting consistent uniques/day.
Compilez.com - this is little different since compilez is French, I think.

So, there is market for it depend on word itself.
