Hi. I see a lot of reported sales here for example at Dan.com, but I don't understand - are those coming to you from people who buy after going to the domain and checking out and landing page, or these people are finding the names on the Dan.com website itself?

Hi

maybe ask those who have reported the sale, to provide that info.

i know on sedo for instance, the commission charge differs,
promotion channel sale 20%
versus
parked domains originating thru sedo 10%

i guess it would be good to know for users of that platform,
if percent of sales came from internal searches, it could be used as marketing gimmick.
but then, that could speak negatively about type-in traffic or direct navigation sales.

a lot of folks just happy to get the sale and don't care where it came from.
but the question does raise interest, for that aspect of sales metrics..

:)

imo....

Would @Sedo or Dan (couldn't tag Dan for some reason) share that info? Worth asking.......

It would be nice to see the data and it be could done anonymously so we just see the stats and not the domains, prices or owner info.......

A big problem would be if there was a trend of seeing marketplace searches getting the majority of sales - could Sedo potentially lose some parking revenue as some people might change their nameservers? Not sure on this, hence the question mark.......

A nice weekly, fortnightly or monthly report to go alongside Sedo's domain sales data would be nice, likewise for Dan.......pretty sure they have this info to hand, would be very surprised if they didn't

Hi all,

We understand that domain sales data provides an interesting insight into the market as well as guidance for sellers and investors. For this reason, we have been publishing domain sales on Sedo above a certain price limit on a weekly basis for years. This info can be found on several domainer blogs. In addition, we publish annual market studies with detailed information on market performance, sales channels, TLDs and prices. You may find the information you are looking for there. Check out this page, there you can download the study – just scroll to the bottom: https://sedo.com/us/buy-domains/market-trends/

Other data is understandably interesting for you, but please understand that we do not publish certain data for reasons of competition and consideration for our customers. Sedo has been actively engaged in making the domain market transparent for almost 20 years now by sharing certain data on domain sales and TLD trends on a regular basis with the community. This is still important to us and we are happy to see that other players are following the publishing of sales step by step, or hopefully will follow in the future.

All the best

Chris
