Pardon me if this has been asked/posted etc. before. :)

Do you own your own first name/middle names/surname as a domain?

Just saw someone has aquired Mark.com and it got me thinking...

I don't think I've ever checked to see if my full name is available. I guess it would be a good idea on the rare chance that I ever became famous.

Famous? I meant to say infamous.

Oh wow, I could swear the .info was taken when I last checked...that's my 2nd favourite extension! Thanks a lot Rob, I guess i'll use good old NP to register that soon enough...:)

No problem. Registerfly.com is a good choice at the moment, only $2.99!

My full name .com is already reg'd by GoDaddy and not listed for sale.

My first name is taken in like every ext. Ohh well, I didn't want it that bad anyway.

I own my last name in the .info ext. Better than nothing! All the other exts are taken, including .cc, .co.uk, .de, .eu... :td:

First name taken (most extensions), last name taken (most extensions), first + last name is too cumbersome and specific.

I did manage to get my first and last name .com in my native language though. Relatives get a kick out of that - since I own their last names too :hehe:

I have my last name as a .org. The .com and .net were already taken. It's nice to have your [email protected] as your email address.

I also recently registered Wershba.com. Joe Wershba worked with Edward R. Murrow and was palyed by Robert Downey Jr. in the movie "Good Night, and Good Luck".

http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=61408

He was also the producer of 60 Minutes. Joe is my grandfather's cousin, same last name. Anyway, I thought it might be fun to have, and do a family tree kind of site.

I wasn't expecting many of us to have their first names but glad to see some of you found your surname available. I will never get my surname as it is a biblical name. My first name is gone in all extensions except for some ccTLD's. The .com is a fruit/confection company, another one is a porn site and there are other various pages owned by people. I might try for a couple of them later when I have more money. I guess I need to get married so I can find the surname! :hehe: This has been very interesting to read. Thanks for sharing and keep them coming! :)

Ohh ...

Both my first and last are take in all ext's and together the .com is taken. But if I use one of my nic names along with my last name that is available.

EX:

JosephJojo.com, taken
JoeyJojo.com, available
JoeJojo.com, available

or

RichardRichbastard.com, taken
RichRichbastard.com, available
DickRichbastard.com, available

JUST EXAMPLES....

Go and grab the IDN of your surname, so it will be Rรถnneberg.com

I just checked and it is available to reg.

Thanks Alex, yeah I had been planning to register it, so I did just now, used domainsite. I didn't realise Godaddy.com doesn't support IDN domains, which I thought was quite strange...

I own MichaelCaricofe.com although I really have no clear idea when I'll ever be able to put any time into developing it.

I'd rather have Caricofe.com, but it's taken. :td:

I doubt its anywhere near that high... just (now 19%) of people who voted in the poll have their last name. Still an interesting result.

The majority of people who look in the thread will have done so because they own thiername.com and are interested in the thread.

One option in the poll should have been 'firstnamesurname.ext'.

My full name is taken (.com), my last name is taken in all extensions. I had a chance to buy my last name .us but I let it pass. It was probably a mistake but hey I found no use for it at that time.
