This email refers to a .in name registered post landrush Feb 2005 - it does appear to be from a gov dept ,they use a .org.in version on their mail, in any event they had the option to reg the name at sunrise but did not- it is also an acronym. I regged a number of 3 letter .in at the same time.

The name is currently parked at Sedo

This is the email:

"As you may be aware, the ".in" domain pertains to India and domain names are to be assigned to agencies in India.

We observe that "%%%%" has been registered in your name.

As the "%%%% " has been assigned to the ****** by the Indian Government, you are requested to surrender the " %%%%" registration in favor of the *****, India.

I have omitted the name for obvious reasons - I am aware it is a "try on" but what would be your response?

That was my intial reaction, however, I checked and they own the .co.in , .co.org version from 2004, they have just regged the .firm.in , .ind.in , .gen.in in April of this year.(All acronyms)
