Hi all

Could someone help me with a couple of things

I am looking at buying some names relating to a new technology that should be big in 2009

In your opinion what would be the best extensions to buy these in??

For example, say all these were available but could only buy 6 out of the 8 names, which would you buy, obviously China and india have the lowest internet penetration so the potential is the largest with these 2, but maybe it doesnt work with the english translation and the extensions

NewGadget.tv

NewGadget.in
NewGadget.co.in

NewGadget.cn

NewGadget.us

NewGadget.co.uk

Thanks

If I had to choose 6 extensions, I would go for:

.in
.tv
.org
.info
.cn
.co.uk

I find the .us extension at no use at all, .com is associated as the all american extension by far.

.in has had more sales then .co.in, and they are 275.000.000 indexed site by google; .co.in only 44.000.000

That's my HO.

b2b, thanks for that, you dont think .CN (china) should be higher up the list

.in
.tv
.org
.info
.in
.cn
.co.uk

I presume 5th one down is .co.in

Im a big fan of .TV, but Im not sure if a new technology or gadget fits the .TV extension that well, thats all

any other thoughts??

Well I actually didn't post them by rank...

If it's about a new technological gadget, then I would take the extensions in the following order:

org
info
tv
in
cn
co.uk

NewGadget.info
NewGadget.org

After that, its a gamble. .tv if its a good fit.
.co.uk if it is important in the english market.

Thanks reprint1

Just say this product is going to be a global product and sell millions of items to every country in the world, surely .cn and .in would be right up there with so many potential end-users

If global, i might look at .de with some strong sales in the past again depending on fit and branding but in the absence of specifics, its hard to give good advice.
I dont invest in .in or .cn so I cant give you good feedback on those.

Thanks reprint1, Rohan and Corey

Dont know much about .CC but will look more into it.

For .de, can anyone reg them, any suggestion on the best place to reg a large mix of names like this. At some registrars, some names are obviously not available, are there any registrars that do all/most names, trying to keep names in one place for easier management. I mainly use Godaddy, Dynadot, Name and Easydomain

Also looking for cheap registrars!!!

Don't forget NewGadget.com.au

You're in Australia after all. .AU whilst a small market of just 21 million or so, commands a greater proportional use than co.uk, in, cn, us etc

No worries,

Intaserve are very good value but Hostess are a couple of bucks cheaper. There's some real competition at the moment and you can get as low as A$20 for 2 years. However I'd recommend paying a little more and going with one of the above.

A lot of people think of .au as being pricey regos but they really aren't. A$20 for 2 years equates to about US$6.70 p.a. which is competitive with .com prices isn't it? Anyway good luck with your rego's!
