Hi all,

I would like to hear your experiences with both of them. Which one is easier to sell a $xx to mid $xxx domain? I have put up my domain for sale on sedo for half a month but have yet to receive any offer..

I am also confuse about the member type over at Afternic. Can a free account sell domains there?

Feel free to share your experiences. Thank you.

You will need to pay ~$20 for an account on Afternic in order to sell. While other people certainly will disagree with me, I've actually had better luck on Afternic than Sedo. You may want to try selling in the bazaar area (at Afternic) for a domain with that value.

half a month is not so long to wait re selling of domain names.
if you want to sell quickly then you can pay extra for one of the time limited auction features either on sedo or afternic or tdnam.
the free a/c on afternic is for buying only.
the $20 a/c on afternic includes 10 bazaar bucks, so the 'real' seller membership cost is more like $10 in practice.
it is worth having the afternic a/c if only for the afternic bazaar where you can sell domains up to $400 value in a dutch auction lasting a week.
you can also purchase additional bazaar bucks for $np in the np shop.
it is also amusing that some domainers who will advise others not to sell their domain for oooh not less than hundreds of dollars will baulk at the afternic membership fee.....

Actually, both Afternic and Sedo are very good, well publicised websites to sell domain names, they each have their own pro's and con's. 6 months is not too long to sell a website, in this business, you will need to be a little more patience.

Though you have to pay $19.99 to sign up to sell on afternic, sedo is free to sign up to sell. Sedo has greater visibility in Europe than afternic, but the "home" page on afternic is more attractive than sedo's!.

I would suggest listing on both sites, and if your domain name has any good value, you'll re-coup your $19.99 membership for afternic in no time!.

I've had some measure of success with both in terms of offers but I've yet to have a sale from either. I like to place the blame on other things but perhaps it could be my names just aren't the right ones. I don't know. ;)

Anyways, Sedo is free and I never turn down the free exposure and the $20 fee at Afternic is also worth it IMHO. I'd agree that both of them are worth it.

Sedo's main parking problem imo is that darn "Green" color. Remove the Green Sedo, remove the Green.

I have recieved two offer from sedo, no experience from afternic. I suppose afternic should be better since they charge some fee for to the user!

Well here goes for my experiencies :)

Been trading for around 5 years ....

I used to find Sedo better to sell at and park ... I now park at NameDrive.

Use a fixed price to start things off at Afternic, leave Sedo as open for offers.

If it is a decent domain that you are looking for that price, would go for Afternic's Bazaar .... PM me with the domain and I'll let you know ( without letting anyone else know ).

Quick turnover ... E-Bay can still be good ... Really depends on the name and traffic etc ?

All the best.

Richard.

wow^^

Thanks for the very helpful comments. I still thinking if its worth to have that $20 account at Afternic..

Is there any differences you noticed for different extension domains? For example, will .US domains yield better results from sedo?

Thank you.

Hi Absolute,

To be honest I have not really been into the .us scene ... However if you are looking at the lower end of the market ( $xx ) I would tend to try at Afternics Bazaar to start with.

Hope you do well.

All the best.

Richard

Both are good, but comission fees are higher at Sedo.
