Hi everyone,

I'm in the middle of creating a new site, and I need a shopping cart to sell a few products. It needs to be simple and not require alot of brains (I'm not big on the tech). I'm looking at using the Paypal cart but it seems a little suspect.

-Is it really safe to purchase something through a cart thats not even on my site?
-Do I need to buy a SSL Certificate for my site? Or does PayPal provide it?
-What do I learn about my consumers; I need an email and name?
-Is is completely free? Any hidden fees?
-What other options for shopping carts do I have?

Thanks for any advice or experiences you have in regards to PayPal :tu:

If I was you I would download the free cart from cubecart.com Its very easy to integrate it into your site and will record email address and so on from your customers.

As for paypal you will need to create a seperate "Buy" button for each item you are selling and simly paste the given code into your site. However you can use encrypted code buttons also provided by paypal.

Generally you can manage without an SSL cert as any details like card numbers will be handled by paypal or other payment processor.

As I said, the better option is cube cart because all your transactions will be recorded and it is very easy to add new products as you grow and it has all of the functions you would ever need in a cart.

Thanks for the advice.

My site doesn't revolve around e-commerce though- its just to sell about 5 products on the side.

Is the cube cart free or just free to try? I don't know html, can you copy and paste it (cube cart) into the site?

Like to hear from anyone else about their experience with PayPal.

Cubecart is free, but you have to keep a link to their site. If you are not familiar with databases or html or php then I would go the paypal way. You just have to copy and paste the code into the page where you need it. Each item you are selling will have its own paypal "Buy Now " button. Should work ok for a few items like you say.

Good Luck
