You never stop being a domainer! But you can only develop so much.

Yesterday I managed to purchase DonorCell.com and straight afterwards I hand reg'd CellDonor.com. (In themselves these are great names in the world of biochemistry, genetics, medicine, genetic engineering, etc.) B-)

I saw DonorCell.com for sale here on NP and although I had no intention of buying anymore domains I JUST KNEW I had to grab it, which of course I did. Then I checked and found CellDonor.com was available to register - again I just had to get it. :)

So there I was happy to have got a couple of nice domains that I knew could be developed and developed well. So last night and today been doing some reading up on the areas.

Looks like the advances are tremendous with obtaining blood donor cells (stem cells), these can now in some instances be retrieved from both the marrow and blood (after a prescribed treatment) and can be stored by freezing – much the same way placental blood can be frozen from the umbilical cord. I am going to have to go much deeper into this – only problem is I need someone who can tell me where I could buy some spare time from, please! :O

Seriously though, I think it has to be done right from the start, but with the number of illnesses presently ‘treatable’ and with many others likely to become treatable in the near future this looks like a shoe in. How I would monetize it is another matter that somehow I will have to work out, but heaven alone knows how.

Anyway, unfortunately it looks like these two domains will be just put in the drawer for the time being. It’s a shame but there is no point going at this half-heartedly. Great names for development but just need to get the time to develop them and then monetise them.

So much for me retiring from domaining! :cy:

Why make them longer when they don't have to be? Simple SEO and that is covered anyway, as will be stem cells, T cells, leukemia and leukemia treatment, as will be a host of other illnesses and key words that can be treated.

I believe there is a domainer who did quite well in this niche or amassed a decent portfolio, i cant remember if it was a domain sherpa interview or another one but it was mentioned somewhere.

I think you may be thinking of a certain 'Adam Dicker'. :hehe:
He has approached it from using the umbilical cord blood if I remember.

I might, when I get around to developing the sites, actually see what deal I could do with him about lead generations to his sites. But unfortunately that is most probably a long way off as I am up to my neck in other developments at the moment and will be for at least another 18 months or 2 years what with post launch work as well on the sites.

So it is a long weekend and the weather is overcast and cold. Did a few of the mundane chores and then guess what - just read a few published medical research papers and ended up registering another couple of domains!

I thought that either the scientists or the institution and/or the companies that funded the research would have registered the domains, but no. Actually I am surprised by this as one pharma company I have looked into has literally hundreds of domains registered (some are obviously their drug trademarks but others are purely generic).

My wife (who is otherwise known as 'The Boss' and I talked about it last night (she is also a partner in the company) and we decided we would allocate some funds to invest in hand regging in this field.

Guess I have gone from 'retired' -> 'semi-retired' -. part-time 'domainer', and all in the matter of a few days

Yes! The interview was held on domansherpa and you are talking of Adam Dicker, he has hand registered cordblood.com uscordbloodbank and also registered cordblood related domains for about 45 US States and said he was making about $700 via lead gen on daily bases as at 2012.;)

With the advances in adult stem cell acquisition from both blood and fat as well as the better known marrow stem cells this is a huge, or should that be 'HUGE' market. Adam's enterprise mainly is for placental blood and cells, an area he seems to have successfully entered and indeed all but cornered.

Every month results are coming in of advances in illnesses being treated with stem cells, and of course the ability to utilise more donors cells is increasing as our understanding of treating the stem cells in different ways to produce a lesser risk of rejection. Back when I was doing my degree what is happening today and especially the advances that are on the near horizon were thought of as science fiction.

Well, after doing some reading up in the journals on the subject I have ended up registering another 15-20 domains in the general subject area (again amazed that some of them were not registered), also I have a list that I dare not count up of possible other domains for registration (all have been free when I have checked over the past couple of days).

What was that I was saying about being 'retired' - by the looks of it I was just taking a sojourn somewhere away from domaining. I have though loved reading the articles and papers, it brought back the excitement in the subject that I had when I was studying it. (What is also of interest are the leaps forward that should be made in all different branches of medicine.)

Am I back to domaining, I don't know, these are so tempting to develop and the possibilities for monetization are tremendous (I will be sending off another few emails this afternoon to see if I can drum up interest from various companies) that I think the project has nudged another few on the list for development out of the way. B-)
