Hi all, I have been trying to transfer one of my domains from networksolutions to my 123-reg account but it does'nt seem to be happening, it failed once and I am trying again but it does'nt look like its going ?? :-/
I have been billed for it by 123-reg.

Any idea what I could be doing wrong ? I have emailed networksolutions but no reply in the last 3 days.

Thanks, Gazzip

Yes and no.

If your registration is past due for 5 or more days, then the status of your domain would be registrarlock I believe. Basically, your DNS wouldn't resolve. If this is the case, you cannot transfer the domain. You would have to renew with Network Solutions first.

If you just registered the domain within 60 days, then you have to wait until the 60 days are over before transferring.

If there's a dispute on your domain name, you cannot transfer it.

Those are pretty much the basic ones. Call Network Solutions and ask them to "proof" the domain so you can complete the outbound transfer. They wil lbe able to do this as long as they can authenticate you via the phone. Make sure you check your account as well. The send outbound transfer requests to the primary contact on the account, which isn't necessarrily the same as the admin email in the WHOIS. Call during 8-10 and you should get the people in the US call center.

I transfer over 100 names out of Network Solutions over the past year and didn't have any problems. Did you make sure to unlock the domain first before initiating the transfer?

In any case, 123-reg would know the reason it failed.

Hi Guys, according to my 123 control pannel it says the following for my second attempt - But I have'nt received anthing to say I will allow or deny ?

A .com/net/org transfer is waiting for a response from the Administrative Contact to allow/deny the transfer.

I have just noticed this - Account Administrative Contact: None
Account Technical Contact: None

I have tried unlocking it but it has'nt done anything and I am reluctant to leave it unlocked for a long time (ie - days)

I was expecting to get an email for me to allow the transfer out which I have'nt yet - I would of thought that's when I would have been required to unlock it ?? ( I have'nt transfered before to 123-reg).

The domain is due for renewal in April so this should not be a problem.

Any other thoughts ? If not I will try and phone them.

Are the WHOIS contacts correct on the domain at NetSol?

You need to unlock the domain prior to starting the domain transfer. If it's unlocked now, just reorder the transfer and it should go through.

yes they can cause it happened to me but godaddy contacted someone and said that if the other registar does not respond in 5 days to the transfer than i get it automatically, before this i was being denied by the other registar.

I'm not sure if they are still using this tactic but they use to send a confimation email. The email was for one confusing to say the least but they had it worded in a way that it would get blocked by alot of spam filters. Not sure if this might be the case or if its even still done. I think the deceitful ways went out the door when they were bought out from Verisign.

FYI...NSI was divested by Verisign several years ago and now operates as a separate registrar company only. Verisign just stripped them of the TLD registries they had.

I still have the same bad feeling toward both of them.

you will get a confirmation email that you have to click a link to.
if you disint get that email, something is wrong, and the email is going elsewhere 9 a potentially dangerous situation).
this email gives you 5 days to confirm or the transfer will not go through.
