As with all forums, they need a steady stream of visitors, well, this is only a few days old and I just starting to get some content up.

If you could let me know what you think, any ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I like the theme. Good luck with the forum :)

The theme looks nice, but there are some small tweaks that might help:
1. make the social media icons smaller and set them in the header (horizontally displaying). The idea is to keep people on your forums, not facebook :)
2. try to set a fixed layout for your forum, it appears too wide on a wider monitor.
3. you need some more categories: introduction, general chat and news-feedback.

Start posting A LOT of content and promote as much as you can.
Starting a forum is pretty difficult, but it can surely be done.

That is a GREAT looking forum theme! Is that an off-the-shelf theme to something like phpForum? I hate to want to steal your look but I'm a veteran and have a military-related forum that would be PERFECT with that. Ah, Google solved that mystery. ;) I really like your hanging dog tags though!

Anyway, I love the look visually, so pretty much what you'd expect to hear...basically exactly what dojo said right above. I do slightly think that military-theme might be too outside the whole tutorial aspect of things?

I do too. I was simply messing around with the theme to give it a more individual feel and came upon the look with a graphic I bought a few years back. If you would like it, you can have it as I plan upon changing several things with the site over the next week or so.

Wow, you are too kind. That'd actually be great!

I love forums. I think you could get some great visitors to yours with the right articles and guides. Already super user friendly.

Marcia,

Best wishes with it - I know how hard it could be to get a forum together - could I ask what the dog tags would be in reference to?

The start page of the forum is excellent work. The navigation is all laid out for the user in an immediate viewable location. I like the drop down that asks for how long you want to be logged on.

Is that cookie based, meaning does the cookie also get destroyed when the user gets logged off automatically?

To be able to hide the header is advantageous in that many people do not want to be distracted by the same information and want to concentrate on the core reason of going to a forum - information.

The social buttons are cool as mentioned.

Personally not a fan of black/gray sites but it is clean and straight forward and a well designed start.

Regards,
Rob
