The new weekly domain sales report is out at DNJournal.com. Our new Top 20 chart is led by the highest sale reported so far this year. It closed at close to $1.7 million and was the second seven-figure sale of 2008. We also saw a pair of six-figure sales that both rank among the year's 15 biggest sales.

In addition to the usual bounty of .com domains, .net had a big week putting four names on the all extension leader board (with three of those hitting the top ten). The .nets did even better on the Global Contenders chart, sweeping the first ten positions.

The Country Code chart was led by a .co.uk domain, but Germany's popular .de extension won the overall numbers game piling up 13 of 20 chart entries. You can get all of the details here: http://www.dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm

A couple of days ago our review of the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. West 2008 conference in Las Vegas was published. Since then we have added a Photo Gallery to the report. We had some very nice shots (many of people you may know) that weren't used in the main article so we set up the Gallery to allow readers to enjoy them. That is located here:

By the end of the week our new March Cover Story will also be out. It is a profile of Lawrence Ng, the 29-year-old co-founder and CEO of domain industry giant Oversee.net (parent of DomainSponsor, Moniker and the DOMAINfest Global conference). If you like entrepreneurial stories I think you will enjoy reading how Ng got started in business and how he built the Oversee empire that continues to grow by leaps and bounds.

Thanks Ron.....

There were 20 solid five-figure sales and five other names that sold for $25,000 and up at the AfternicDLS all would have charted had they not been subject to non-disclosure agreements.

And I thought the industry was in a slow down like the rest of the economy

A new economy

Nice Ron,

I have been waiting patiently for some kind of news about the theme of Traffic which was "transparency" This is a huge need for domainers who park and I found nothing from the current blogs and thought what the hell? Seems nobody was reporting what was said.

That is until Rons great report.

Still not much concrete news except it was discussed as a great need and that is mountain moving.

I am also encouraged about Rons report that a new concept may be announced by a parking expert that may change the hocus pocus magic show we have now. Words from current parking providers to explain our bottom line after this and that deduction is simalar to "hocus pocus" from the magic industry. A person cannot understand what they do as they use smoke and mirrors to perform the magic.

Magic and hocus pocus words are not setting well with domainers anymore as we are so far from the days where domainers will accept a few cents on the dollar.

When the waters get agitated, gold nuggets are moved into the streams to be scooped up. What smart person or parking company is going to be the first to scoop up these valuable nuggets for traffic domains?

My hope is this person or group that is thinking of developing the new concept gets it together.

Domainers will flock to a better transparent revenue provider like U.S. taxpayers are lining up to grab the free money to all taxpayers proposed by President Bush.

The difference?

The tax windfall is a one time benefit, (hopefully for the dollars long term strength). The parking transparency benefits will be ongoing.

Thanks Ron, Rick, and others who are pushing this envelope.

I think you're right Roderick.

The first company to come to market with a 100% transparent parking solution will quickly gain the trust of domainers.

The parking companies know what the split is. But they hide the functional/actual % paid to their publishers by playing number tricks or what Enron would call "creative accounting".
