Did anyone feel the effects of Yahoo's new TQ scoring policy? I noticed quality scores drop from 10 to 3 this morning and RPC's dropping by over 50%. Anyone else seeing anything like this?

didn't yahoo update the TQ on sept 10 ( that what i am seeing in my account ) - what company are you with ?

Yes, my understanding is that they recently updated their scoring, either on the 9th or the 10th. On several of my Yahoo feeds my TQ which has consistently (for over a year) scored a 9/10, the score dropped as low as a 3 but on average closer to a 5. Some feeds were not affected at all. It's very strange and wanted to reach out the domaining community to see if anyone else has noticed these or similar drops. Also, if you did experience this same drop did you see it on a domain feed or a search feed?

Hi Seabass, Was it on a domain feed or a search feed? Do you arb to your feed or is it all natural type in track?

I use Parked. My TQ has been a 10 for over a year and dropped to a 2 today. Most of my traffic is type in - no arb. I'm very curious how many others are experiencing this too. Hopefully they're just working out the kinks with the new scoring system.

uuups - everyone knows their newest score ? how come ? ( i know my newest score but my account still shows the updated yesterdays score )

i really hate saying this - but i told you so !

look at one of my last posts over at the other forum - nobody will make more money every one will make less - just another way for yahoo to screw us - its plain old theft .

i really hate when i am right !

Well - I wouldn't quite jump to conclusions. Stats haven't completely finalized yet, and for some odd reason even though my TQ score tanked, my RPC didn't suffer much.

It would be nice if we could get a TQ score on a domain by domain basis. That way you could remove the bad apples. I have a feeling a couple of my higher traffic adult domains are bringing down my total score. I may try those on a different feed and see how it affects my TQ score.

I'm seeing some strange stuff too. For example, some TQ scores remained the same but overall RPC jumped up. While in other cases the RPC dropped in direct correlation to the TQ drop.

Addtionally, has anyone noticed that certain terms don't have coverage on the DM feed but do on PM? For example, test "swine flu shots". It won't have coverage on a domain feed but does on a search feed. Leading to the conclusion that Yahoo has limited coverage on the DM feed. Thoughts?

Interesting observation.

I tested that term across three different domain feeds and then on my search feed and the search feed is the only one with coverage which makes me think it's not a specific domain but all dm feeds. This is just a theory, what do I know.

You're probably right. Usually the advertiser has a way to opt out of certain terms on the domain feed, but there is a lot flu related advertisers which makes it seem unlikely.

Also "flu shots" is not returning results on domain feed as well.

maybe they found a cure for it ? ( just kidding )

btw Matt - your system is quite impressive ( i know a couple of days is not long for a test but so far i see fair results to good results ( on selected domains )

From what I heard, the vaccine is limited. That may explain why they are limited it to search only. ;)

Thanks. We are rolling out 2 new great things in the coming weeks. Let's hope things get only better. One of them is new landers with the inquiry system. I am just trying to make sure we do things right whenever something new is added/released, so it takes time.

We have second tier and third tier providers for the time being. What they supply us is what we display. :)

We also mix in some ZeroClick advertisements either from the home page or search page, such as Sendori, into the mix to help boost revenues by a bit wherever there is little or no coverage from our PPC providers.

We are hoping all this changes in the near future as it is real mess and pain to work with all these providers.

yeah , i heart that many are even a 1 - i was fully expecting a 3 or less yesterday - just to justify the lousy payout - then when i saw the update yesterday that it still was a 10 i got ecstatic ( i got so frisky , i thought of raping my neighbors dog ) - then today the revenue update with was even worse than over the past week or so - so i started thinging - and trust me it is not easy with such a small brain - i started thinking my tq is good no way to get it better - so why do i get paid less - so i asked and WAAAM couple of hours later they found an answer lets just take a couple of points of wolfis TQ numbers to make the numbers look a little more matched up with the revenue .

quite a few days - while my TQ is not bad enough to take some sleeping pills - i still don't like it a bit.

however, i know for a fact that several members at parked are in fact in big trouble - simply because they used arbitrage - and how do i know it - well a few weeks ago i got a phonecall from ....someone...who asked me to use their system to do arbitrage - i gotta tell yeah these are some clever guys - checking the TQ scores and making sure it stays at least a 5 to fly under the radar - quite interesting stuff - just too bad the i am such a chicken , but after all i worked too darn hard to risk my parking accounts for a "few dollars more". ( but it was tempting to say the least )

so those boys are seeing some sad stuff.

Thanks for your input. From what I've heard, yesterdays stats are final. There will not be any changes. Maybe Yahoo did this on Sept 11th to be funny or ironic, either way the joke is lost on me.

One last question for you guys. Have you noticed that domains with higher than average international traffic were hit harder than domains with domestic (US) traffic? I've noticed a trend in my research that international seems to be getting hit harder and would like some additional input.

It's interesting that Bodis is using 2nd and 3rd tier feeds and is able to outperform Google and Yahoo with international traffic. It makes both of them look like thieves when smaller players are treating traffic providers better than they are.

Our second and third tier providers are filling in some Yahoo ads and whatnot. They are pretty big so their rev shares are good. What I was trying to say is that we do not have any direct relations with Y or G for the time being.

Also, don't forget - Bodis is a 1 man crew. I can afford to give out a competitive revenue share as the company has virtually no expenses.

I hope things will improve. The Yahoo-Bing merger should make things a bit better.

Matt,i wish you all the best with your project - you work hard to build a honest business - don't change a thing !

i suspect that many people trying know to sign up - just use caution - remember last time.

as for the yahoo payout - google does the same thing right now ( or the overhead at DS is so high that they had to reduce the payouts.)

if i look at my DS account for this month - is is pretty much a disaster and checking on another forum - i just read that i am not alone .

remember we talked about the swine flu ,
i think the ppc got the
-----> clickflu !
( clickthrough - get it ? )
