I did some optimizing and was really thrilled about the result, I was in the fifth place for a term that has about 14,700,000 results on YAHOO.

I checked it, I was in fifth, about 4-5 hours later, I checked it and I was back to 40th, where it was before the update. And then I checked later and it was back to 5th, I did this a few different times and it keeps going back and forth.

Another thing is, the change I made is only shown when it's in 5th, when it's in 40th, it shows how it use to be.


Why is this?

First of all, congrats on getting into yahoo search results. It is relatively difficult to get that.

And the jump in position, it may be because different data centers showing results at different times. Give it some time and it should settle down.

Before it was about 39-41 position and then I made a title change and it is now steady at position 5 with the same phrase (14,700,000 results).

Just a simple 5 minute change and I get a 35 position increase and on page 1. :D

Describes in some technical detail how Google updates its index.

Hi,

I don't worry much about these things, cause they are common.

You need more optimization for that keyword and that is obviously. I am ranked top for some keys, and for some keys I remain #1, others I have to do more SEO, to stay as the number 1.

Even with indexing, a new site sometimes appears in index, other times no... that just requires a bit more backlinks to get and remain.
