if you had 10k to spend on a single domain/multilple domain investments:

    1.would you actually buy domains?
    2. Where would you look?
    3. What type of domain would be yhe best value in your opinion?

Spend $5k on a domain you really like, but also has at least 10+ possible end users, then use the other $5k and buy a mixture of pronouncable 4L's and western premium 4L's ending in C....$5k invested in that should yield about 7-15 more domains. If you make sure your getting good prices for everything, you will be able to make good roi over time.

I would do what @Federer does. I'll look/wait for .com coupons and register couple of thousands of .coms (two word, geos, brandables etc.). And then once I am done registering, sales will start rolling in from the next day. I rock, don't I! Just kidding mates.

I would invest 50% of the money in buying domains from auctions (two words mostly; with meaning, brandables) and will invest the remaining 50% money in hand registering .coms.

I would spend a lot of time looking for a LLL.com, you still can get them for around 10K if you look hard enough

If not, invest in some brandable, pronounceable LLLL.com names with good letters (Cato, Mota, Bino, Tuno, Taxo etc)

Email existing owners looking for bargains, I very rarely buy dropping names, if the name was that good, it wouldnt be dropping, there are obviously rare exceptions to that rule

I make most of my profit from selling snapped drops, so we are probably just doing this in a different way.

Not always the case. You can pick up some great names from the drop lists, and there could be a number of reasons why a name is being dropped. In my own experience, I haven't done too badly at all.

    Nothing better than domains IMHO.

    Godaddy Auctions
    NameJet
    NamePros Marketplace Requests
    ExpiredDomains.net
    4l.com's and 3l.ca's

Depends upon how much time one is willing to invest along with those $10,000.
For a passive investor who can't afford much time for keyword research, outbounding, etc he/she should invest in liquid domains like 5N.com, pronounciable 4L.com, 3C.com, 3L.net

For domainers who wants a quick flip and has time, he should invest in pronounciable 5L.com, 4L.net, crypto domains, EMD, etc.

As I said, there are exceptions, but the really good names don't just expire unless you get really lucky

In my case, I’ve mostly sold new gTLDs that I’ve snapped, not .com, .net etc. So that is a big difference. But, I can clearly see that is not that easy to snap good and possibly profitable new gTLDs now, as it was a year ago.

Ps. Hugedomains tend to snap ”most” semi-good .com names ;)

That might be the case, but there arent many people in this industry that would grab any gtld's if they had 10K to blow on whatever names they wanted

You are right, but that’s why I am doing it. :) As long as it is profitable, I don’t care much of the extension. Many domainers with great .com portfolios would probably not even try to do anything similar.

This is also a reason why I like domaining. I make a decent (far from great) profit from selling good keyword-extension-combos, while others sell pronouncable LLLL .coms.

I was just joking, implying op should spend money with me :xf.smile:

Site loads for me but you can always try www.mapledots.ca instead (same site)

    Seriously though....

If I already had hundreds of names I would buy one or two high quality domains with the extra 10k. That's exactly what I have been doing.

I would spend those money at high quality new gTLDs with low renewals (you can get such names here at Namepros for example, from early adopters, although it is getting harder and harder. But I bought few dozens of such beautiful names here).

Personally, I would invest long term not only LLL in com's, but also nets/org/ca
also NNN in those extensions (maybe others...depending on the number combination...888 for sure!

For a long term portfolio (5 years plus) N-N (not in com) but I would try to acquire 51%+..

    Even the non-premium 3l ca's....?

I been slowly acquiring (when a great deal appears) LLL's ca's with at least one premium, again long term portfolio..

You certainly can if you email the owners and negotiate especially the LLLL brandables, you see good names like those sell on namebio and dnj pretty regularly, and those are the reported sales and sales on public platforms

The LLLs are a lot harder to find because of the rarity of them, but its worth looking aroud for them

    Better to invest in crypto.

Domains are highly speculative with no guarantee of end user pay day, no matter how good the name.

Liquid domains are fine but margins are tight.

Don't get me wrong, I buy domains at this level but I have advantages over everyone else and can afford to sit and wait for the most part
